6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
Today’s Inspiration: God delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6. The Hebrew word yada meaning ‘to know’ stresses knowing from experience and relationship and acting on the knowledge. When used in terms of knowing people, it means caring for someone even being intimate sexually as in the case of Adam yada Eve and she conceived and bear Cain. Genesis 4:1. Hebraic knowledge is not knowing who someone is. When you yada someone, you are devoted to him as well. Hence biblically, knowledge of God truly means means knowing Him as son to a father and as wife to her husband. Hence to get people to know the Bible is not to fill the people with facts alone but to bring people to yada the Lord personally.
To bring people to yada the Bible is to communicate the Bible devotionally besides instructively. Hence when you read the Bible in Isaiah 11:9 and Habakkuk 2:14, it means that the Earth should be filled with (yada) devotion to the Lord as waters cover the sea. How well do we yada the Lord? This is where seeking the Lord every morning matters. To understand the Bible from Hebraic perspective, we need to be more devoted to the Lord personally rather than just merely filling the people’s minds with facts.
Transformation can only occur when we are fully devoted to the Lord by inquiring from Him in all that we do. For instance Isaiah 11:2 in the Tanach reads as the spirit of the Lord shall alight upon him a spirit of wisdom and insight, a spirit of counsel and valor, a spirit of devotion and reverence for the Lord. Compare this with the English Bible you will see it has deeper meaning. Knowledge of God should read as da’at Elohim meaning to having a life in relationship with Him.
Therefore to know the Bible deeper, is to lead a devotional and deeper relationship with the Lord daily to know His heart desires that we may walk right with Him. Biblically insight Hebraically is understanding, power is valor and the fear of the Lord is spirit of the Devotion and reverence for the Lord.
May we lead a devotional life with the Lord and be totally committed to Him to ensure success that we might glorify God’s name always. God be praised.
4 If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post; for conciliation pacifies great offenses.
Today’s Inspiration: Do not leave your post even if things are difficult for conciliation pacifies offenses. Ecclesiastes 10:4. Just eat and drink and be merry for God has accepted your works.
Difficult times come to us not to stagnate the work of our hands. It is during this time that you ponder and make profitable use of them. For who can make straight what He has made crooked? Ecclesiastes 7:13.
We should not allow impatience to defeat us. Impatience causes one to panic and be anxiety ridden. When peace departs the quality of our involvement dwindles and we can be easily frustrated and angry. When you are pressed on every side, it’s time to consider expanding your goal. Wisdom to resolve does not stand alone but it’s built upon true knowledge. The search for wisdom is what one desires yet it’s a lifelong endeavor and requires diligent and continuous effort especially in terms of relationship it’s a long process. There is an answer to everything and that lies on the spoken word of God attainable with diligently searching of scripture. Wisdom is good with inheritance and profitable to those who see the sun for wisdom is a defence like money. But the excellence of knowledge lies with wisdom that gives life to it. Ecclesiastes 7:11-12. God be praised.
Prayer: Abba Father grant me the grace to extract the words of wisdom from scripture to handle my daily tasks with excellence. Help to be patient in spirit rather than being prideful in the spirit for patience lies in the heart of the wise whose efforts will not be in vain. Amen.
26 “…and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”
Today’s Inspiration: Whether God heals us by medical technology or Divine intervention, He is the source of all healing. Exodus 15:26. Success on our journey depends on how we walk in the healing anointing of the Lord. Jesus healed and accomplished all His works under the power of the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:38.
The Gospel is all about faith- heart or mind faith. Mind faith is intellectual acceptance of facts. Heart faith is active faith and changed inside out. It creates a willingness to respond and act on the facts. Heart faith is coming willingly to Jesus allowing Him control of our lives. Mind faith is watching safely from a distance but heart faith prompt us to plunge into the river of healing. Faith must arise in our heart before healing can take place.
His words of healing in the Great commission has already been established in heaven. Psalm 119:89. So healing must be made normative like the days of early church. Let Him be our hiding place and shield. Have hope in His word. V114. Let your testimonies be your meditation. How sweet are His words to your taste, sweeter than honey in your mouth. V103.
So remember the Lord your God, your Savior, your healers, your breaker. Have heart faith to believe in the supernatural. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord, grant us the grace and mercy to be healed and be a blessing to others. Turn our mess to miracle. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.
Today’s Inspiration: By humility and fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life. Proverbs 22:4. The rich rules over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender. V7. There is a season for everything. Be smart like Mordecai and Esther who did not confront the enemy but prayed and fasted. For the power of prayer is stronger than any plot conjured by evil men or women.
If you are looking for miracles, it’s not how long we pray but how sincerely we pray that will bring miracles from heaven. Be sober and alert for the enemy prowls around to stir up unity and love. Satan knows what strings to pull, what buttons to push and what imperfection to play upon to get the reaction he wants. He knows where the blind spots in our characters are as well as where the unhealed wounds in the spirit are. He knows when to reach them and how to reach them. He comes to us indirectly and comes not as evil but angel of the light. He only wants to get our time, energy and money. Satan is satisfied with us loving ourselves and his best work is carried on by those who love themselves – their careers, their security, their family, and their friends.
Remember Satan is a liar and a deceiver and want to disrupt our love for each other. John 8:44. That’s why apostle Paul tells us to resist the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10. We are against power of darkness and, against principalities and rulers of darkness of this age and not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12. Satan is always behind our dissatisfaction with each other. So do not be ensnared. Make the Lord your confidence. Proverbs 3:26. Satan consistently and intentionally challenged the word and Sovereignty of God. We must be aware of his evil devices lest he takes advantage of us. 2 Corinthians 2:11. It’s dumb to allow Satan to use you to mock God and challenge His power over life and history. Hamon did it and was hung by the gallows he built for Mordecai. Herod did it and was stricken by the worms who ate his body.
Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23. Learn from our past mistakes. Be wise and be a friend of God not a friend of Satan. Be a good steward of the manifold of His grace. It’s Satan’s nature to bite in the end. Let iron sharpens iron. God be praised.
Prayer: Dear Lord I sprinkle the blood of Jesus over my family my career, my ministry, my lintel and pillars of my house, my peace and joy. God has redeemed us by the blood of Jesus from all evil so let us overturn his schemes and love one another. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Today’s Inspiration: Whatever you have seen or learned, you must put into practice so that God of peace be with you. Philippians 4:9. Grow in your faith in God. The Gift of Revelation and the gift of faith must be connected to see a miracle. There should be no element of doubt in your hearts to see a miracle.
Do not allow others to label you with your past. Take on a new label for you were saved for this purpose and at such a time like this. Mordecai decided to change the label of Esther from orphan to Queen of Persia. What a transformation! When God calls you, He heals you first and put a new label on you. Esther has to go through 6 months of healing from old nature and 6 months of training on how to present herself before the King before she could receive the new label. Esther 2:12. Barnabas must discard his clothes of old nature before Jesus can clothe him with righteousness to see his future. Mark 10:49-52.
What label are you wearing today? Till your old nature is passed away, the new cannot come. He desires to make everything new. Renew your mind and be transformed. Romans 12:2. You cannot remain a cocoon all the time. You must move on from childish reactions to maturity in Christ. God be praised.
Prayer: Abba Father, With You all things are possible. Make me an instrument of praise always trusting in You without wavering in the faith. Grant me the fruit of self-control that I may be labeled a new creation. Help me to perceive a new thing You are doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
18 Open my eyes, that I may see, wondrous things from Your law.
Today’s Inspiration: Blessed is the one whose eyes are opened to see the wondrous things from the Law. Psalm 119:18. How sweet are His words to your taste sweeter than honey to your mouth. V103.
Faith is non-negotiable for Christians. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6. If there is no faith, nothing happens. Jesus could not do much in Nazareth because of unbelief. Matthew 13:58. Don’t hang around people who lack faith. Faith is contagious. When your faith is challenged, you are heading for defeat. It’s better to hang around people with faith.
Do not allow your imagination to grow wild. God often works through our imaginations. Therefore, our imaginations sometimes overpower our will power. When we are faced with storms of life, we should not allow our thoughts to be bombarded with onslaught of doubts and hopeless thinking or we will block His ability to help us overcome. The Psalmist in Psalm 73:7 wrote that our callous heart could invite iniquities and evil imaginations have no limits. People tend to pursue their imaginations because they look at the perspective of five senses rather than by spiritual understanding. Those who pursue their imaginations are obstinate people and one who wants the easy way out of trouble. Isa 65:2. Look at Adam and Eve. Imagination can be used for good and evil. They allow Satan to become part of their thinking process which filled their imagination. Eve was enticed to look at the forbidden fruit and allow her mind to rationalize her decision so she ate and persuaded Adam to eat without thinking of consequences. Genesis 3:6. Because of their sin, they develop self image of fallen people and their hope for the future becomes bleak causing them to fear.
Therefore don’t underestimate the power of imagination especially when you are faced with turbulences of storms of life like critical illness or financial lack. Statistics have shown that many people became critically ill because they fall prey to their imagination that caused them to fear. Job 3:25. Imagination is a land mine you should avoid. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord I am frail and weak. Help my will power to overpower my imagination. Let me be mindful of what comes to my mind. In Jesus’ name, amen.
6 “You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet..”
Today’s Inspiration: The physical illness that afflicts us and the death that overtakes us are constant reminders that at best we are frail creatures. When God blew into us His very breath and transform us into a living soul, God is sending a message that we are more than dust and are called to a greater destiny. Psalm 8:3-6. We are called to have Dominion over the works of His hands and put all things under his feet. Hence, we should never allow anyone not even Satan to hold us back or hold us down. As the Psalmist said, God had made us a little lower than angels and are crowned with glory and honor.
Most of all, we who are made from earth’s residue can be redeemed and sanctified to the point that we who bear the image of the earth will also bear the image of heaven. Now we are a child of Resurrection through Jesus Christ. Therefore, you should never allow yourself to be despised because all are made from dust. The only difference is who are you serving.
Does your faith rest in the wisdom of men or the power of God? 1 Corinthians 2:3-4. The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29. So be transformed by the renewal of your mind so that you may proceed what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2. God be praised.
Prayer: Abba Father, I thank You that Christ died and rose again that He might be Lord for the living and the dead. Therefore, whether we live or die we are the Lord’s. May we be count worthy when we stand at the Judgement seat of Christ to give an account of ourselves. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
3 Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
Today’s Inspiration: When you feel lonely and weary, remember the Lord your God. Commit your request to the Lord and He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3.
When people speak of Esau, they always think in terms of his dumb way to sell his birthright for a soup. Genesis 25:29-34. However, we must not forget he was a skilled and cunning hunter with great ability yet gentle as he was devoted to his aged father Isaac and attended to his needs. Esau also had a forgiving spirit who forgave his brother Jacob who twice frauded him. Genesis 33:4,9. Therefore in life we must be careful of the way we live. We need a legacy of which we must be justly but humbly proud, not one that cause shame to our children. We need to leave a legacy of character.
All of us do make dumb mistakes but let that not be our label. So think carefully before you decide. Make sure it’s a wise decision that brings you success. Do not be like Esau who in the spur of a moment of hunger and discomfort, sacrificed his birthright to block out the bigger vision and sunlight of God’s covenant.
What is the birthright? It entitles one to receive authority and honor and a double portion of his father’s inheritance. The eldest son often acted as the priest of the family in offering sacrifices and the priestly garb was kept for him. He also received a special blessing from the Father. In this case the blessing would have included the promises made by God to Abraham to inherit the land of Canaan. If Esau had kept his birthright, all the families of the earth would have been blessed. If we hold onto our birthright, as God’s redeemed children bought with the blood of Jesus, we would inherit that which satisfied and lasts throughout eternity. You are a chosen generation a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people. 1 Peter 2:9. So live up to this name. God be praised.
Prayer: Abba Father help us to make the right decision in life that the choices I make are pleasing to you. Let me not make dumb decisions that deprive me of my blessings. Amen.
