1 John 1:6
6 “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”
Today’s Inspiration: One who truly keeps His commandments, the love of God is perfected in him. 1 John 1:5. If we say we abide in the Lord, we ought to walk just as He walked. V6.
Jesus came to the Earth to destroy the works of the enemy and to show us the way to live. Therefore, since we walk in the light, we ought to make a difference in people’s lives. God always separates His people from all flesh. Our love for others must not be in word only or in tongue but indeed and in truth. God is greater than our heart and knows all things. 1 John 3:18, 20. Love surpasses all things.
We tend to focus on the pain afflicted by us more than confront the enemy of our soul who tends to divide us. Joseph clings onto His promises despite the turbulent trials knowing full well that in His time God will bring forth the promises He has for him. Till you know God’s promises for you, you will not persevere like He did. Jesus paid the price that we might receive our salvation. Therefore, let your eyes be in the light. This is what your life is all about. Believe in Him whom you serve and the Promises which He will bring to reality in His time should be the duty of all men. God’s promises will carry you through. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Lord hasten Your fulfillment of Your promises for me that I might bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”
Today’s Inspiration: Matthew 6:8 carries a deeper meaning than what we read on the surface. We always match it that we do not need to pray for our Father knows what we need before we ask Him. This is a reflection of what is quoted in Leviticus 18:3 not to do like what others do. Right through the teaching of the Beatitudes at the Sermon of the Mount Jesus challenges us to have a character completely distinct from that admired by the world.
Our righteousness is to exceed that of the scribes and pharisees both in ethical behaviour and devotion to the Lord. Their love should be greater and their ambition nobler than those of their pagan neighbours. In fact, the sermon on the Mount presents life in the kingdom of God, a fully human life that lived out under the Divine rule.
The words in Matthew 6:8 rings very clearly that we must make a difference to the lives of those who still do not know Him. We need to study deep the Bible beyond the human eye. First, we have to have an overview of the message we are reading. Then observe to see how each scripture connects to another. Then renders a key theme in the passage through short reading. Apply the message to real life. This inductive bible study can help us to draw near to God. It’s a tool to guard our hearts and minds towards Christ through His word. As the scripture says, the spirit searches all things God has revealed to us by His spirit. Therefore, as we go in depth studying the scripture, may the spirit of God reveal the deep things of God’s own self to you. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord help us to understand deeper things of who God truly is and the power of His resurrection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
33 Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
Today’s Inspiration: Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it and whoever loses his life will preserve it. Luke 17:33. In this verse we are directed to build ourselves on a foundation of a rock and not on shifting sands. A foundation on shifting sands is easily blown away when storms in our life gets stronger. We need to go deeper into the word of God, which is the source of living water to sustain our lives.
We need patience and faith when planting seeds of faith. We must plant our seeds believing that what we have sown in our lives and the lives of our children and others will grow into bountiful harvest. We need to work in unity to produce the healthiest crop both in the natural and in the supernatural. Too much water, light or heat can kill the plant. We need to have a balanced life and maintain the mind of the Messiah at all times. It is the spiritual mind that equips us for daily life and allows us to maintain balanced life. King Solomon stressed on timing to be of primary importance. We need to know the right time to plant to reap the harvest in its season.
Discern the soil before planting the seeds. To disciple one with a teachable heart, with softness and love in the heart should be our principle of discipleship. Salvation and strong belief in our Lord is a sign of a heart ready to receive to grow into a harvest.
Take heed of what you are hearing. In our human mind we ask the Lord to increase our faith like the disciples did. Jesus’ reply was that He has given us all a seed of faith. It’s up to us to believe the word of God we are declaring to manifest the supernatural. Luke 17:5-6. All we need is to walk by faith not by sight to manifest the supernatural and to live our life from day to day glorifying God. He who called you is faithful. Be fruitful and multiply. Genesis 1:28.
Prayer: Lord guide us and help us to walk in the newness of the spirit and not by our old nature. Thank You for the new birth that enables us to fulfill Your will successfully without wavering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
Today’s Inspiration: God desires truth in the inward parts. It’s in the hidden part that God reveals His wisdom. Psalm 51:6. A heart that desires deepening of a relationship with Him is one that is purged with hysop to be cleansed and washed with pure water that your crimson sins are washed clean before Him. V7.
A ear that hears is one who comes to the Lord with a contrite heart that God will not despise. V17. He is the one who can blot out our transgressions. Know who you serve.
Stay calm in the midst of a turmoil. It is this calmness that we acquire understanding of the roots of our problem. Though we are prone to angry reactions, it’s the calmness that brings peace to our hearts that can help us achieve wonders. It’s best to guard our tongue and let our words be few and profound to win the hearts of many than be rashful with our mouth that destroys friendships.
We know the fruit of a person by his attitude towards others in speech and in personality. God be praised for those who are patient in the spirit.
Prayer: Lord let not my mouth cause the flesh to sin. I desire calmness in the inward parts that all be well with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
9 “You shall not sow your vineyard with different kinds of seed, lest the yield of the seed which you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard be defiled.
Today’s Inspiration: Do not let your heart grow faint nor tremble with terror for the Lord your God is with you who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to save you. Deuteronomy 20:3-4. Do not plant faith and fear in your life in order not to defile the harvest planned for you. Deuteronomy 22:9. You either plant the seed of faith or fear in your vineyard.
As we take the word of God into the community, to sow seeds, we must first understand the condition of the soil and prepare the soil of another’s heart before we deposit the seed. Our approach must be one of love as we make ready that soil and as we sow seeds into that undeveloped soil of the heart.
We should follow the ways of the farmer to first study the soil composition before preparing the ingredients to fertilize the soil. Understanding the soil condition determines the time of planting and the seed which will benefit the condition of the soil. We cannot over fertilize the soil nor over water. We must plant the right seed at the right time. Planting the seed of faith will definitely prosper. In short whatever you plant just believe it will yield a good harvest and it will produce a good yield for you.
There is a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1. Patience always rewards ultimately. Speak words of faith to the seed you are planting to bear fruit. Stay calm at all times in your endeavor of a reconciliation for it to bear fruit. Don’t panic but be discerning. Weeds have to be cleared before next planting. Every problem must be nipped at the bud before it destroys the harvest. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord I shall hold onto what is beneficial and healthy for me. I forbid every entry of every torment, harassment and deceit of the enemy that might ruin my relationship in Jesus’ name, Amen.
19 He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough!
Today’s Inspiration: Proverbs 28:19. He who works the land will have abundant food.
The ground of our planting must be well prepared to produce a lifetime of harvest. Planting on ground without a foundation may work for a season but will not endure hardship, drought and storms. Shatter old thinking that keeps the roots of your faith from going deeper.
Our life can only be sustained by our faith in prayer and worship. Do you search your heart for bitterness and anger daily? At the end of the day take stock of events taking place daily. Recall what you have said and reacted and what you did for or to another. Repent for each shortcoming. The ground of your heart must be watered as dry ground cannot sustain life.
Watching out our words is important. Matthew 12:34 out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Today search for and remove clutter in your heart: unforgiveness, bitterness and anger. What other blockages are buried in the ground of your heart? Can you release them and allow the heart soil to be cultivated by the Holy Spirit?
Your number one goal is to live in eternity with God so every other goal in our lifetime is to line up under this one. Keep eternity in the topsoil of your mind. God be praised.
Prayer: Father I lay aside all filthiness and wickedness and submit them to you. Reveal to me my heart attitudes that need to be refined, and guide me in the way of righteousness that all my goals and àspirations lead me and others to eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
16 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.
Today’s Inspiration: Our joy is founded upon our attitude towards the word released to us. Great is the Lord who is worthy to be praised. Better a little with the fear of the Lord than to acquire great treasure with trouble. Proverbs 15:16.
There are times where money cannot solve our problems especially in critical times of lack and our combat against critical illness. These are times where we need to give our whole heart, body and soul to Jesus to allow Him to change us to what He designed us to be. It’s this total surrender of the heart that matters to Jesus.
God touched David’s heart from one of pride to one with a repentant heart. This is the best that God is looking for to guide and to lead to paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. God be praised.
Father, we thank You for Your life that leads us to a life of simplicity of touching other people’s lives with truths You have given to us. May we be consistent in our walk with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
11 Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king.
Today’s Inspiration: When we approach God, we tend to come with a list of requests pertaining to our self-interests. The best approach is not to approach Him with it for He knows our needs before we put our request to Him. Matthew 6:8. Adopt King Solomon’s ways of approach to God. He asked for wisdom and knowledge that he may judge His people over whom He has made him King. 2 Chronicles 1:11. God knows his need and granted him what he requested for and on top of this riches, wealth and honor no King ever had. V12. What an awesome God we serve. It’s an honor to serve the King of kings and Lord of all Lord’s.
In our service to Him we need to exercise our gifts with passion so that we will be effective in all respects. We need to be good stewards of the resources He has made available to us. We need to have the passion to take complete ownership of the ministry He called us to lead. King Solomon started well and what a wisdom he had as narrated in the Bible but sadly he did not complete well because he failed to manifest his gifts for His glory. He was prone to sin against God through the list of his flesh.
Flesh cannot sustain us as they work against the spirit based on the five senses which gives a wrong signal to men. We should be led by the spirit who grants us life ever abundantly. Flesh profits nothing. John 6:63. The devil will not stop tormenting us or harassing us so as to make us fall prey to his schemes. So we need to be watchful and pray at all times. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord grant me wisdom and knowledge to execute Your plans for me for He who called me is faithful. O Lord God whilst I am weak but You are strong. You will deliver me from all wrong. Therefore I shall serve the Lord joyfully in great expectations of the Lord. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
