1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
God reminds us always to walk worthy of the calling with which we were called. Ephesians 4:1. We are to serve in humility, in gentleness and longsuffering, bearing with one another in love. Verses 2-3.
He is calling you the Church to be in spiritual unity. Spiritual unity has been emphasised too in verses 4-5. In fact it is much a part of life and teaching of the early church that caused Apostle Paul to assume the presence of unity in the church. This is why he emphasised this in verse 3. It should be the norm in the church. We are to live under the control of the Holy Spirit then our life will be a miracle.
Confusion and dissension result as God began to lift His blessing from our efforts, removing the flow of grace and resources. Maintenance of peace and spiritual unity is therefore very important in Christ’s family. We seem to be complacent and live our own way rather than God’s way. God’s way is unity and peace.
We must always allow the peace of God to rule in our hearts – peace that mandates that we seek the unity of the Holy spirit who grant us wisdom beyond message. Wisdom is from above. It is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3:17.
The fruit of righteousness are only for those who sow in peace. Verse 18. When peace rules in your hearts, blessings flow. If miracles are to follow, you need peace to reign in your hearts.
May God sanctify you with peace this morning! Have a blessed service!
