5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Peace and gentleness are great fruit of the spirit. The peace we are seeking is no ordinary peace but a heavenly peace.
Apostle Paul advocates that our gentleness be known to all men in Phil 4.5. The next verse He says the Lord is at hand. God dwell in the praises of His people who have oneness with each other. Where there is peace, it is easy to flow with the Spirit. Peace is something most families seek.
The reason why we don’t have peace is because we always allow our past carnal emotions to surface. These are lies the devil wants to bind to us. We need a peace that is beyond understanding. Only this peace can guard our hearts and minds. If we are in Christ Jesus then we should have the mind of Christ who commands us to focus on everything that is noble and praiseworthy in verse8.
We are to focus on things that are pure, just, lovely and good report. Meditate means we are to have these things and those of God deeply rooted in our hearts that guard our mind in Christ Jesus.
Apostle Paul suffered lack but he never complained. He just sought the Lord for provision and was appreciative throughout, verse 11 where he said he learnt to be content in whatever circumstances. How blessed are we to be given opportunity to sow! Verse 10.
He further said that he is not seeking monetary support but he is seeking for the fruit that abounds to our account. He wants us to be able not to strive but our account be overflowing with abundance verse 17. So we ought to give as God directs. 2 Cor 9:7. God loves a cheerful giver.
Lets exemplify Paul as he exemplifies Christ. Jesus was full of gentleness and compassionate towards those in need especially. Let us not allow anyone to cheat us of our reward. Our citizenship is in heaven so we should portray ourselves as one. Phil 3.20
