1 Samuel 15:22-23
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
God’s message today is to advocate against stubbornness and rebellion. Rebellion is like sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry as narrated by prophet Samuel to Saul. If you reject the word of the Lord He will remove you from authority. So do not be stubborn. Obedience is the path to success. 1 Sam 15:22-23, 26.
Today many people are struggling because of disobedience to the call and preferred their stubborn ways. Stubborn people need to realise that their stubborn ways of insisting on their ways displeases God because its an iniquity and a form of idolatry. We should avoid this trait as it displeases God and we do not want to be rejected by God.
Disobedience is costly. Luke 15:11-32 parable of prodigal son his rebellion costs him his inheritance because he was a bad steward of finances. However God turned his mess into a message of promotion. Its God’s way of moulding him to be a matured person. His brother having not individated reacted childishly and displayed insubordination to his father and miss the promotion.
We have to have self control and remove the spirit of control we have been moulded inappropriately when young otherwise its a stumbling block to our maturity in Christ. 1 Cor 13:11.
Stubborn people are idolatrous and God’s word is to obey Him fully. Disobedience or procrastination brings wasting diseases and depletion of wealth. Deu 28:60-61 and verse 51.
So let us have self control and give up our stubborn ways that prevent oneness in our own family and the family of Christ. Let us be a role model for families that bring glory to God’s name. If we do not force our ways on them but to give godly counsel, the home and workplace will be a peace haven and a secure place that God has originally intended.
