1 Thessalonians 5:8
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
How important it is to regularly put on our breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 1 The 5:8.
Faith and love comes from the heart. If our heart is at risk we are vulnerable to attack by the enemy. It is important to fill it with God’s love that brings forth healing to our spirit; soul and body. A battered heart is prone to weakness in the body. Belief also comes from the heart of love which seals our security in Christ Jesus that brings forth fruit.
Helmet is the hope of our salvation. Hence our salvation is assured only when we run the race and finish well. We can now only hope for salvation. Hence we must walk in the spirit and walk in love to be sure of our salvation.
Salvation encompasses health and healing of our past wounds and present habitual sins and not of eternal life alone. Salvation also encompasses our safety and soundness. Therefore we must work out our salvation through daily sanctification of His word. John 17.17 Joshua 1.8 that all be well with us.
Love and peace besides self control are the fruits of the spirit that are difficult to attain because of our fallen nature but can be redeemed only by God’s love. We cannot have God’s love in our hearts if we don’t edify, exhort and comfort each other. Verse 13. Let peace dwell in your hearts this morning rooted with God’s love.
Love starts from within. Discover the inner conversation in your heart that keeps crippling your potential. Resist your inner self destructive talks and be released to God- given destiny. God be praised. He is faithful and will help you overcome.
