22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.
Today’s Inspiration: It’s May day a day of celebration and making new plans for the rest of the year. We ought to remain focused like Jesus. He chose only to demonstrate God’s power. He went about healing the sick in public places and teaching His disciples. He was not distracted by people or circumstances. He focused on God’s priorities to relieve the oppressed. Matthew 9:20-22. He waits for God’s timing to heal the sick or resurrect the dead. Going on God’s timing bears fruit.
This should be our focus. Our mind is built to wander from place to place finding solution instead of being still before God. When we are focused on the Lord, we rest our attention and replenish our mental energy. We come up with remarkable ideas that can change how we live our lives. What is your focus at the moment? This is why Jesus says He will give you rest in Matthew 11:28-30.
Banish anxiety. Don’t go about finding solutions when you have the Holy spirit to give you wise counsel! Don’t ignore Him.
Do not be stressed by peer pressures or pressures at work. Learn to say NO. This applies also to your boss who takes advantage of your weakness to make you stay late and take you off from your priorities or invitation to a party you don’t like. Don’t come up with a dozen excuses. Just say “I am sorry but no.” It is as simple as that.
Jesus could have left everything and proceed to heal Lazarus but he didn’t. He wanted to demonstrate a greater power of God. Resurrection from the dead is not something that one can perform easily. He was very focused. He learnt to say NO to His disciples even though Lazarus and her sisters were such good friends of His. John 11:5 He trusted the Lord will perform the miracle of resurrection in His time. He did not panic nor take his focus off what He was doing. John 11:6, 11-14.
Our behaviour can be self sabotaging though we don’t realise it particularly when we overwork or feel we are under peer pressure to conform to habits that are not good for our health. We need to address the root of rejection, approval orientedness and perfectionism to be free. He whom the Son set free is free indeed. John 8.36.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. For with Him is the fountain of life. In His light you will see light. Psalm 36:2. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will fulfil the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. Commit your plans to Him and trust in Him. He will bring it to fulfilment. Verse 5. God be praised for His abundant goodness to His children.
