11 I returned and saw under the sun that – the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,
nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
Today’s Inspiration: King Solomon always stressed that there is a time for everything under the sun. He elaborated in Ecclesiastes 9:11 that the race is not to the Swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill but time and chance happens to them all. This means it’s not about your effort but God’s sovereignty. No matter how hard you work to achieve, it’s God’s ways that will lead to your destiny. We just have to wait for his opportune time. As I taught last week, It is important to walk with God and please Him like Enoch. Sometimes we think our walk pleases Him and begin to question why there is a delay in answer. The answer lies in our attitude towards God and how devoted we are to Him and to others. We think we are devoted but our actions and attitude do not show.
We can’t see our own flaws because our focus is not God-centered. We react when people bring to our awareness. This is a reflection of our attitude towards God. Pastor Darien spoke about self awareness yesterday. We can have self awareness only when we examine ourselves truthfully before God and allow people to check our attitude. These lessons I have also learnt painfully in my life and today with God’s healing I am ministering to those going through same pain with much effectiveness because of the keys that God taught me to overcome.
Devotion to God requires two keys – how much you fear God and how much the love of God is in you. Until you have these two elements, God will not show you His desires for your life. He must be your top priority before you can have the desires of God. Desire for God is the highest desire and highest honor. I shared first key Fear of God last week. May it sink deep into the spirit of my hearers.
I will share second key next week – The Love of God. These three keys constitute the foundation of godliness. Paul taught Timothy that godliness is profitable for all things not only for this world we live in but the world to come. 1 Timothy 4:8. The totality of life is not complete without godliness. As I said in my earlier message, godliness is more than being godly.
We need to remember the promises of God not to fear but to have faith in times like this because faith is a spiritual gift given to us at the time of conversion, a powerful weapon against the evil forces who always want to destroy our life and our potential in Christ. Faith must not be from the mouth as worship must not be from the mouth. It must come from the inward part to achieve success.
As it is written it is not of what we will, nor of our own works and effort but of God who shows mercy. In all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and will not see us forsaken. Romans 9:16, 8:37. We live by faith not by sight. God be praised!
