17 “I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, nor did I rejoice; I sat alone because of Your hand, for You have filled me with indignation.”
Today’s Inspiration: Words are powerful. They bring edification, exhortation and comfort or convicts us of our sins. Our life is judged by the word of God. Jeremiah says in 15:17 that His word is for us to consume with joy and rejoicing in our heart. His word either heals or convicts us.
God’s word once spoken, are to be penetrated deep within your innermost being. It’s the highest authority in the universe. I have been asked many times why they can’t remember the scriptures that they read daily yet they can remember every hurting word they hear which penetrates so deep into their heart that holds them bondage. It depends on what we believe most. It is much easier to believe what we see rather than believe what we cannot see. Believing what we can see is not faith. Faith is the substance we hope for yet cannot see. Hebrews 11:1. God’s word cannot be profitable to us if it is not accompanied with faith. Jesus told the woman with the issue of the blood that her faith heals her. Matthew 9:22. The bleeding on hearing the word of God “Your faith heals you” plus her fullest faith that Jesus can heal responded and brought forth a miracle that medical doctors cannot understand.
His word goes beyond space and time dimensions. Once you move out of your human reasoning and logical thinking, the next thing you see will be miracles that overturn medical prognosis that pronounced death sentence.
During Elisha’s time, the woman’s son died mysteriously but she refused to look into what is happening to her son. Instead she keep declaring her son was well. 2 Kings 4:23, 26. She does recognise her son was dead but believes that God can resurrect him. The power that resurrects Jesus will give life to her son’s mortal body. Romans 8:11. The spirit gives life but the flesh profits nothing. John 6:63. Had she not recognise her son’s death, she would not have been so desperate running to Elisha to perform the miracles on her son. It was the woman’s faith in His word that resurrects her son. You may not be ready to trust God at His word especially when you are going through critical illness and intense pain you are suffering. If our faith is true and sincere, we should have no difficulty trusting and obeying His word and walking in them. Jesus casts out demons with the word ‘Go’ !
How powerful can your words be! When the word of God abides in us, we will overcome all adversities. 1 John 2:14. Jesus is the word. Revelation 19:13. He has the words of life. Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. What is the victory that overcomes the world? Our faith. He who believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God is an overcomer. God be praised!
