17 So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that [a]he said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.”
Today’s Inspiration: Our plans will fail if we constantly come into agreement unconsciously with the enemy’s distortion of God’s instructions to us. Satan tends to offer something God does not want us to have. Genesis 19:17 the instruction to Lot and his wife was to flee from the mountains and not look back. His wife agreed with Satan to look back and she became a pillar of salt. V26. How important it is to heed the voice of God!
Lot’s wife leaned upon her own understanding instead of trusting the Lord our God with her whole heart. She finds it not a problem to look back. Proverbs 3:5-6. This is human nature and is contrary to Abraham’s walk with God. Abraham believed God, even if the things that God spoke appeared impossible, and God credited him righteous. Genesis 15:6. Abraham had the assurance from the Lord not to fear for God is His shield and sure reward in Genesis 15:1.
In a trial or testing, can we still believe God? When you are suffering from critical illness and reports seem adverse, can you still believe God will heal you? Yet scripture says that the tongue that speaks healing is a tree of Life. Proverbs 15:4. A heart at peace gives life to the Body. Envy rots the bones. Proverbs 14:30. It’s all in your thoughts and words. You need to speak to your spirit words of healing and keep your thoughts focused on what God is speaking to you on your health. Change the image of hopelessness to hopefulness of health and you will experience miraculous healing. Proverbs 1:33 whoever listens to Him, will live in safety and be at ease without fear or harm.
It is therefore imperative that we do not allow our problems and affliction to distract us but to focus and believe God as the provider of all things.
In this time of crisis, we are insecure in our finances. But look at the widow in Elijah’s days. She was overwhelmed by her poverty that she did not have any idea that provision was currently within her. 1 Kings 17:12. We keep depending on others for provision more than on the spirit of the Lord living within us, who directs us to look at what we have and trust God to empower us with the creative ability within us. We have this power to produce wealth once we leave the self pity of our circumstances and give the first fruit of our supply to the prophet. V13. The widow after heeding the counsel of prophet Elijah to prepare a meal for him despite her pathetic circumstances, got her provision for her future when she acted in faith. V16.
Faith without works do not have the multiplication effect. Jesus used the boy’s five loaves and two fishes to feed 5000 families. Matthew 14:17-21. God used David’s sling and stones to kill Goliath who threatened the army of God in Israel. 1 Samuel 17:45-51.
Can you trust God for your needs today? It happened yesterday and this principle of multiplication is still prevalent today as I began to see my maid’s testimony of God multiplying her widow’s mite with her faith giving. She even asked me about tithing when she saw the people in the church asking me to bless their tithes. I was truly overwhelmed that my testimony and faith walk have brought her closer to her walk with God. We do our part and it’s God’s responsibility to do His part of conviction. God be praised.
