Matthew 7:1

Judge not, that you be not judged.

Today’s Inspiration: We should be people of faith and be fruitful. When Jesus cursed the fig tree with the words ‘Let no fruit grow on you ever again,’ it withered to the amazement of His disciples. Matthew 21:19-20. Jesus was teaching His disciples a lesson on the power of our words. We should not be quick to speak nor to judge. Matthew 7:1. Whatever we do will be measured unto us pressed down and shaken over. Luke 6:38.

Whatever you ask in prayer, proclaim God’s words in prayer, and believe, so that the things we say will come to pass. Matthew 21:21-22. This is why Matthew wrote in Matthew 12:36 that we have to exercise caution on idle words. V37 For by our words we will be justified and by it we will be condemned on judgement day.

Sometimes ignorantly we speak curses to ourselves or our loved ones in anger. When Jacob was confronted by Laban for stealing his gods, he did not know the truth that Rachel had taken them and proclaim that whoever takes his gods will not live. Genesis 31:32. The consequence was that the wife he had been laboring for 14 years eventually died at childbirth when the curse took effect. Genesis 35:16-18. When Rebekah connived with Jacob to get the first born inheritance, Jacob was reluctant for fear that the curse will be upon him and not a blessing. Rebekah carelessly declare to let the curse be upon her. Genesis 27:12-13. Twenty years later when Jacob returned from Mesopotamia, his mother lay buried where Abraham and Sarah was buried. Genesis 49:31.

When God made a covenant with Abraham, not only He promised to make him a great nation but He will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. Genesis 12:3. This applies to self curses. So we have to exercise caution of the words we utter. Galatians 6:7 what we sow in earlier years we reap in later years. Therefore we must be cautious on the words we speak to our children when we are angry. It’s good to calm down and sit and reason with them. Isaiah 1:18 the Lord also urged us to go to Him and reason together with Him whenever we sin. In the reasoning He gives us the assurance of things hoped for through our faith. Hebrews 11:1. Hope cannot be achieved without faith being a substance to add to our hope. The woman with the issue of the blood had inner witness that if she touched even Jesus clothing, she will be healed. That was her hope but it did not take effect till she acted by faith in persevering towards the goal of hope. Mark 5:28, 34.

Jesus then proclaimed that her faith heals her. So whether it is spoken words or idle thoughts, both can take effect. How powerful are our thoughts and our words! Proverbs 23:7 as the mind thinks so be it. Psalm 109:17 says that whoever loved cursing, let it come to him and whoever did not delight in blessing, let it be far from him. Everything happens for a reason depending on your words and thoughts.

Therefore let this day be a day of resolution of bearing good fruit with our words and our thoughts according to God’s word for a tree is known by it’s fruit. Matthew 12:33. Let us be a fruit bearing tree bearing good fruit by our thoughts of words of wisdom from the Bible which is God’s voice rather than the words of the flesh and the condemning words of the enemy.

God be praised for He watched over the door of our lips and is a judge over the righteous and the wicked.
