2 Chronicles 16:9
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”
Today’s Inspiration: For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9. The devil is very subtle. He always catches us in our complacency and waged war on our mind causing us to make a wrong decision. This is the landmine that hindered our walk with God. It is important that we be alert, and watchful in prayer so that we have calmness in the spirit and receive a timely word from the Lord to wage war against the enemy of our soul and triumph.
King Asa was rebuked by Hanani the seer for relying on the arms of flesh of king of Aram instead of relying on the Lord. Hanani the seer reminded him of the times he relied on the Lord and triumphed over the Cushites and the Libyans despite their large army of chariots and horsemen. Henceforth he will be at war. How important it is to make the right decision! 2 Chronicles 16:7-9.
King Asa was angry and imprisoned him and brutally oppressed some of the people. V10. Consequently in the 39th year of his reign he was afflicted with a disease in His feet and here again he did not rely on the Lord but only on the physicians and after suffering for two years he died. V12-13. How important it is to rely on the Lord in whatever we do! He started well but did not finish the race well. We are supposed to fight a good fight of faith and finished the race well. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6. Instead of relying on the Lord, king Asa trusts in men.
Jeremiah 17:5 it is written that cursed is the man who trusts in men who depend on flesh for His strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. He will not see prosperity when he comes. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. He has no fear nor worries and its leaves are always green and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. V9. The Lord searches the heart and examine the mind and reward him according to His conduct according to His deeds. V10. How blessed is the man who let the Lord to be his confidence so that his feet will not be ensnared by the land mine. Proverbs 3:26.
King Asa did not resist the devil and hence was ensnared. Submission to God in all that we do is the way to go to accomplish success. James 4:7. We are supposed to put to death our misdeeds so that we will live because those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:13. The mind controlled by the spirit is life and peace. Those controlled by sinful nature cannot please God. The flesh is always against the spirit. Let our mind be set on the desires of the spirit that all may be well with us. Nature’s desires are hostile to God. Romans 8:5, 6 and 8. Therefore live by the spirit always because now that we are in Christ, it is no longer us who do it but Christ doing in us and through us. Hence purifying us and perfecting holiness out of reverence to God is the way to live. 2 Corinthians 7:1.
Let us make room for the Holy spirit to flow through us and in us. Keep the fire burning continually in our hearts so that we have a timely word to encourage others everyday of our life. Love one another.
