11 “O Lord, I pray, please let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” For I was the king’s cupbearer.
Today’s Inspiration: Every right or wrong decision is the product of a sequence of our thoughts. Things don’t just happen. Nehemiah had so much success in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem because he prayerfully thought over the plans and ensured himself he will succeed in embarking into this project before he approached the King with his plans. Nehemiah 1:11, 2:20. Without planning and seeking the Lord for directions, our plans will certainly fail for only the Lord can direct our path. Commit our plans to the Lord and we will succeed. Our plans is the product of our thoughts. Proverbs 16:3. He and his team not only embark on the project but watch and pray as they build the wall. Only prayerfulness and action combined with faith can ensure our success.
Negative thoughts on the other hand follow us throughout our life because thoughts are our familiar companion. We become instantly what we think we are. Proverbs 23:7. Hence familiarity breed contempt. Therefore it is difficult to discard familiar thoughts causing our flesh to surface above our spirit, making ourselves bigger than the Holy Spirit, whose promptings we often ignore leading to sudden disaster.
Jesus knew we could not fulfill the law in the flesh. Hence He asked His Father to send the Holy Spirit to guide us to the correct decision so that we will not suffer loss. It’s His Holy spirit who took away our past fear and guilt as well as inferiority and calls us to a closer relationship with Jesus who protect us, provided for us and never leave us nor forsake us to the end of age, which is all summed up in Psalm 23 and Matthew 28:20 as we serve Him in the spirit.
The extent of God’s love even in this regard is matchless and incomprehensible. Colossians 1:13-14. So whatever people may discourage you, just don’t listen but agree with God on His word in Jeremiah 29:11 if you are in workplace and Jeremiah 33;6 if you are having health challenges. God wants to heal your spirit so that you are always led in the spirit to do His will. For this to happen, flesh must be mortified. Amos 3:3 tells us of the necessity of agreeing with God on His word. God be praised!
