19 As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man.
20 Hell and Destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied..
Today’s Inspiration: As water reflects a face, so will a man’s heart reflects a man. Proverbs 27:19. When God created man He says it was very good. But man was only externally good. He has yet to test the heart of man. He allowed them to enjoy His fellowship for a time then He tests the heart to see if there is any wickedness in him. Psalm 139:23-24. Like Lucifer and his cohorts, Adam and Eve were tested for their obedience to find that man’s heart was prone to temptation, deceit and covetousness which were all sins of idolatry.
The old prophet in the Old testament was also tested for his obedience. He passed the test in the beginning by refusing to eat bread or drink water wherever he goes nor return the same way he came. 1 Kings 13:9. But when he met an old prophet who deceived him with the word purported to be from the Lord, he agreed to go to his house and ate and drank unaware of the predominance of the enticing spirit through the old prophet. The truth was revealed and he was rebuked for defying God’s commands and for this he will surely die. V18-22. After dining, as he went on his way, he was devoured by a lion. V24-26.
There are times we are unaware of Satan’s strategy of planting landmines and no matter how strong we are in the spirit, in our tiredness and complacency, we can step into the landmines unaware. God’s word should take prominence in our life and must be impregnated in our spirit so that we will not be easily enticed to step into the landmine. How true God’s word is! Cursed is the one who trusts in man who depend on flesh for His strength and whose heart turn away from the Lord. Jeremiah 17.5.
God is always searching the heart and the mind of man. We shall eat the fruit of our doings. V10. Satan always use our weakest time for his purpose to draw us away from God’s favour. May we take heed today! He watches our tongue to determine our thoughts and our heart.
God hates rebellion which He considers that as a sin of witchcraft. Even Balaam an unrighteous prophet dare not defy the instruction of the Lord and blessed Israel instead of cursing. Numbers 23:19-20. Korah and his men faced death for rebelling against Moses and Aaron. The ground under them split apart and the earth swallowed them with their households and all Korah’s men and their possessions. Then the earth closed over them. Numbers 16:1-3, 31-35.
Let us be alert and watchful in prayer. Keep our fire in our spiritual tabernacle burning continually with His word that we may not be daily ensnared by the enemy.
