7 “For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.
8 Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground,
9 Yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.
Today’s Inspiration: Job was afflicted with incurable diseases but he still placed his hope in God as we see his writing in Job 14:7-9 declaring that even though it seems death is knocking at his door but at God’s touch he will sprout again. In verse 14 he says that he will wait for the time of God’s intervention. Only God can help him overcome his tragic circumstance.
Confidence in God should be our portion no matter how adverse our circumstances maybe. In times of adversity where there is no solution, only God can help us. Not even the best specialist could deliver us at times.
His relationship with God was intimate and grew out of a lifelong practice of worship, prayer and quiet contemplation which David first learned during long nights at the fields near Bethlehem keeping his father’s sheep.
He wrote psalm 23 where he expressed the love and trust between him and the Lord and those He draws to Himself. He wrote from the perspective of the sheep to the shepherd. A sheep is totally dependent on the shepherd for food, shelter, safety and for life. This is only a gist of what I will be sharing tonight at the School of the Holy spirit where I will share about how David did not murmur or moan in self-pity but allow the circumstances he was going through to build his intimate relationship with God. How to cultivate the quietness and trust was also picked up by Isaiah that led him to be a powerful messianic prophet. Isaiah 30:15.
