8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.
100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts.
Today’s Inspiration: Today is the age of superficiality. Instant satisfaction is a curse and a primary spiritual problem. Look at the harmful effects of fast foods. We rely on our own will power and determination. Whatever maybe the issue for us – anger, fear, bitterness, gluttony, pride, lust, substance, abuse, we can wrested against it in prayer yet these ingrained habits stubbornly stay. Romans 7:8, 14-23.
Will power will never succeed in dealing with deep ingrained habits of sin. As long as we think we can overpower it, the enemy comes in stronger than ever. Will power may display outward success but only for a time. It is inevitable the cracks and crevices of our life, our deep inner condition keeps haunting us. Jesus says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. On the day of judgement men will render an account of the careless words they utter. Matthew 12:34-36.
How many people have carelessly slipped out words that revealed the true condition of their heart. If we are full of compassion, it will be revealed. If we are filled with bitterness it will be revealed.
We have no intention of exploding with anger but when we are with people and be provoked, anger is displayed. If you have acquired self control, you have allowed the spirit full control of your heart. Therefore it is good to pursue this fruit by restraining what the enemy tries to destroy what you have worked so hard to achieve. We are not against flesh and blood but against the power of darkness and principalities. This truth must be ingrained in our soul. Ephesians 6:12.
Only the truth of God can bring forth inward transformation. John 8.32, Galatians 5:22-23. Obedience to the word is key. Obedience brings you to the highest realm where darkness cannot reach. Therefore yield to the Spirit’s control in everyday of your life.
