8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness…
Today’s Inspiration: God is again reminding us that today if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the days of rebellion when tested in the wilderness. Hebrews 3:8. If you do not want to hear His voice, then you are still in carnality which is enmity towards God. Many cannot take tough discipline from God and leave their faith. But those who stay are those who built the House, and He who built all things is God. V4. Whose voice then would you hear?
God has taken us out from captivity and had cleansed us and given us a new heart and a new spirit in place of the stony heart to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments. Ezekiel 36:26-27 so that you will be fruitful and multiply. He is doing this for His name sake and not for our sake. V22.
Today God is speaking to us that the present global crisis is due to the nation’s violation of His sixth commandment. This commandment relates to our premeditated thoughts that led to our words and consequently our actions. This is against God’s original intention of creating man in His image. Hebrews 1:26-28. Until His return, we are to maintain His high standards outlined in His Law and commandment. To violate this standard would mean we will have no part to His kingdom. It’s only by faith that we can maintain high standards and walk in His ways. It is maintaining such standards that we can truly say we have self control. To maintain self control, the spirit of the Living God which is active in us, must give us the enablement and this empowerment is made possible by our response to what we are hearing from God.
For most sins, you cannot see immediate effect but sin against sixth commandment is instant and apparent as it immediately separates our relationship with God. This sin falls short of God’s glory in Romans 3:23 and brings instant death. Romans 6:23.
The sin of murder covers abortion (killing of innocent lives which are helpless and unborn), and includes premeditated thoughts of it and also premeditated evil thoughts of revenge, bitterness, fornication, adultery, thefts, false witness, blasphemies, lust that leads to sexual sins even the thoughts without action etc. Such thoughts defile a man and needs to be delivered. Jesus showed us the character of our thoughts and words as well as action is the character of our conduct. Matthew 15:18-20.
Exodus 21:12-15 gives the law that prohibits killing which includes abortion, suicide which is self murder. To God there is a law against violence and you can read on till v24.
Jesus reinforced this truth further in Matthew 5:21-22 that includes anger without cause or calling each other fool. By so doing, we are putting ourselves in danger of hell fire. Forgiveness and not to react is the remedy Jesus gives. V23. We cannot worship Him without forgiveness. If hitting a mother or a father and cursing them is death, worse still will we be cursing God who offers us eternal life by sacrificing His one and only Son so that we can be saved. Exodus 21:15, 17.
Therefore let no idle words comes out of our mouth as it breaks relationship with God as it is not pleasing to Him especially at this time when everyone is going through trial and not one is exempted. The root cause is man’s failure to love one another as Apostle Paul tells us that the 6th to tenth commandment is summed up in Jesus’ second commandment of loving one another. Romans 13:8-9. Love does no harm to a neighbor even to unborn child or changing of sex formed by God. Love is the fulfillment of the Law. V10.
In summary, we are called to be a blessing as Abraham’s seed of righteousness. Let us not return evil for evil. 1 Peter 3:9 Jesus did not revile whilst he was unjustly crucified on the cross. If we want to see good days, do good and seek peace and pursue it and beware of idle words that come from our heart and thoughts. V10-11. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to our prayers. V12. His ways are not our ways.
Pursue Holiness and godliness as God’s beloved children. God be praised.
