17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
Today’s Inspiration: Genesis 22:17 The Lord declared that “With blessing I shall bless you with multiplication I shall multiply you….” This was promised to Abraham after he proclaimed God as Jehovah Jireh the Provider and because he has obeyed to sacrifice Isaac. The Lord also promised that in his seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because he had obeyed His voice. V14-18. God had emphasised again and again in scripture on obedience as the criteria to inherit a blessing.
Jesus also values people who wait upon Him and a commitment to search for Him. We say we love Jesus but are we willing to wait till He speaks to us and do we obey that voice?
Mary Magdalene unlike the disciples were not satisfied till she meet the Lord in the resurrection. The disciples on the other hand walked away after seeing the empty tomb thinking that Jesus’ ministry is over as he is no longer on this earth. Mary Magdalene on the other hand enquired all possible sources to find Jesus. This commitment and hunger win her the privilege to speak to the Risen Lord. The disciples could not wait and missed the opportunity of meeting the Lord.
How much you love Jesus will be tested on whether you will wait till He speak, and whether you will go out to search for Him till you find Him. Mary Magdalene was willing to linger on and go all out to search for Jesus.
Psalm 40:1 David wrote that he waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined to him and heard his cry. Psalm 141:2-3 He asked the Lord to let his prayer be set before Him as incense the lifting up of his hands as the evening sacrifice. He further asked him to set a guard over the door of his lips and to keep watch over the door of his lips and also guard his heart. King Solomon wrote that the more the words the less the meaning and how can it profit anyone? Ecclesiastes 6:11. Therefore it is best to speak just enough for the hearers to be benefited. A timely word from the Lord will bring encouragement and comfort to help those who need to overcome. Do not be easily provoked to anger neither dwell on it or bitterness will set in. Ecclesiastes 7:9 says that anger only resides in fools. We must not give a devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:27.
Our words must be helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen. Let no unwholesome talk comes out of your mouths. Do not grieve the Holy spirit. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, breaking and slander v31 . Instead be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving each other just as Christ forgave you. V32.
After Jesus appeared to the disciples the evening of His resurrection, He breathed on them and said to receive the Holy spirit and told them to forgive the sins of any and they are forgiven them but if they retain the sins of any they are retained. John 20:22-23. Inability to forgive is keeping the poison of offences in your spirit that damages the soul and finally the body. If you want to be an overcomer then forgive. Jesus told Peter that he needs to forgive 70 times 7 times when he asked how many times we should forgive. God be praised.
