18 “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness. And rivers in the desert.
Today’s Inspiration: God is always reminding us not to dwell in the past. Isaiah 43:18. He is always doing new things in your life. He created you and formed you and no matter where you are, He is with you though you cannot perceive nor fathom it. You may be walking through the fire but you will not be burnt. Even when you pass through the waters He is with you and it will not sweep over you. Isaiah 43:1-2. For He is the Lord our God the Holy one of Israel, our Saviour and our Redeemer. No one can deliver out of His hand. When He act, who can reverse it? V13. What an awesome and majestic God we serve whose love for us even up to a thousand generations is everlasting.
The reason why we cannot walk into the promises is we tend to view them with doubt owing to lack of basic trust and unmet developmental needs during our infancy. These have to be redeemed or we will continue to react childishly and not be able to mature. 1 Corinthians 13:11. The good news is that despite the fall of humanity, and all our personal failings, God had assured us that we are the Apple of His eye. This gives us hope.
Daniel and his three friends were in captive at Babylon but look at their attitude. They never dwell in self-pity and were steadfast and true to God. They stood steadfastly to observe the statutes and commandments of the Lord. They are willing to die for the belief system. What made the difference? They were trained in the ways of the Lord since infancy. Proverbs 22:6. They never depart from what they have been taught even in a land where pagan culture predominates.
They are filled with strength, wisdom and sound judgement. As they do not experienced childhood trauma, they were consistent, strong and self- confident. But what about those who have been wounded at childhood? They would be as loyal to the dysfunction home as the Hebrew children were loyal to Jehovah and their godly training. The wounded child will tend to hang onto the pain, willing even to face death rather than change. They wonder why after so many years they could not accomplish what they set out to achieve. Till they face the pain of childhood in the revealed presence of the Lord, they will not be able to get out of their arrested development and move onto full maturity.
Until we move onto full maturity, we cannot cross over to a land of promise. If you are willing to allow God to cleanse and heal you, your walls of wounds can be torn down.
Cain was warned by God not to react childishly with anger as sin is crouching at his door but he did not take heed and finally walked in the way of a sinner by murdering his brother and was banished from the land to a city of refuge. Genesis 4:7-8, 16. Looking at the sin of Lucifer, Adam and Eve, and Cain you will notice that stubbornness has entered into a heart that is not refined. Stubbornness is the root of rebellion. Today you see in every human being a rebellious nature.
God did everything for the Israelites and performed many signs and wonders to redeem them yet in times of crisis, they manifest in rebellion causing Moses and Aaron ultimately to die prematurely so that they could not lead the people to cross the Promised land. Deuteronomy 32:51-52. God told them they have broken faith in the presence of the Israelites so they could not cross the Promised land. God desires obedience and people of faith to take great exploits for Him. Though Moses did not do as God instructed, for the sake of the people, He showed His power by sending them drinkable water.
This shows that God answered our prayers sometimes not because we are right before His eyes but because of God’s power and His love for the elect. He knows all our hearts. Moses attitude was right but his method of bringing out the water was not in line with God’s plan. God desires full obedience for us to fulfil the destiny He has for us.
We can never fathom God’s heart nor His ways. He surprises us with gifts we never expect or brings us to the wilderness without warning. It is therefore important that we trust Him with all our heart fully and not to waver in times of storm. He wants His name honoured so we have to abide in His ways. God be praised for His everlasting unconditional love for us.
