Proverbs 19:21

21   There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.

TToday’s Inspiration: ‘Man proposes, God disposes’ are common terms widely used. This does not mean that we should stop planning and wait for Him to give us His plans. Proverbs 19:21 tells us that there are many plans in a man’s heart but His counsel must be sought. We need to understand that all that we have planned are subject to God’s will and His purposes. If we go ahead with our plans which are not according to His will, we will suffer both emotional and physical pain in order to put us on track. How many have suffered losses today because their investments were not according to His will and purpose? His promise states that if we ask according to His will He will do it. 1 John 5:14-15.

Like the Israelites, no matter how many times God delivered us from our trials, when things go wrong, there seems to be an element of fear in us. It’s time we circumcise out heart to believe God with all our heart as He has always assured us that His presence will be with us. We need to be like Caleb who quieted the people before Moses and assured them they are well able to overcome the Giants. Numbers 13:30. Joshua also gave them the assurance that the Lord is with them and not to fear. Numbers 14:9.

Faithfulness is a fruit of the spirit in Galatians 5:23. A person is considered faithful only if he trusts God with all his heart in Proverbs 3:5. Faithfulness is believing that what God said in His word is true. A person is regarded as faithful if he is motivated to have genuine commitment to righteousness. Therefore to have faith is to be regarded as faithful in the Hebrew context. When we have faith, we don’t panic in the midst of a storm but stay calm, trusting God to bring peace to the storm. Hence faith is a gift that needs to be grown into a fruit of faithfulness. On judgement day, it’s the fruit we have to present to the Lord not the works nor the gifts. Jesus made it clear in the scripture in Matthew 7:21-22 that those who enter His kingdom are those who bear fruit according to His will.

The full measure of God’s spirit can be accomplished only through a faithful person. Mark 11:23-24. God’s answer to our prayer will always be the answer for our ultimate good even if it is not what we requested for. God be praised in all circumstances. What are you trusting God for? Just believe!
