23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
Today’s Inspiration: Throughout the Bible, we are taught God’s wisdom, which is meant to enter our hearts to influence our speech and to transmit that learning to our lips. Proverbs 16:23.
God’s word in our hearts is meant to teach or control our speech and conduct. Unfortunately even as believers our speech does not align with God’s word especially when provoked to anger. We tend to perceive a situation which is not what the other party meant. This misconception has broken many relationships especially those who cannot forgive the offenders.
Our words must align with God’s word then it is pleasant to the hearers and nourishes the soul that leads to divine health. Proverbs 16:24. Our words are powerful. They can promote us or destroy us. The Bible tells us that by our words we will be justified and by our words we will be condemned. Matthew 12:37.
For every word we speak, we have to give account of it on the day of judgement. Verse 36. Only a good heart speaks good of others. Verse 35.
We are conversing with each other everyday. So let us speak what God’s Holy spirit has truly birthed in our hearts, thereby bringing us to faithfully speak in our lips.
