6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Today’s Inspiration: Children are to be brought up in the ways of the Lord. Proverbs 22:6. We should not only observe the commandments but to teach them diligently to our children and shall talk of them when we are in the house, wherever we go, when they are asleep and when they are awake. Deuteronomy 6:7, as they are a heritage from the Lord Psalm 127:3. King Solomon devoted the whole of chapter 3 on the counsel for the young. It is important to guide our children to the whole counsel of the Truth that all maybe well with them and they would have long Life. When we observe all the commandments of the Lord, then we will be righteous. Deuteronomy 6:25.
Samuel and Samson both were born to barren women. Samuel was brought up in the temple in the ways of the Lord to the extent of hearing God himself at a very young age and Samson was brought up by his parents. Samuel lived his full years and was a prophet and judge of Israel, righteous before the nation. Samson was also a judge of Israel but died a premature tragic death in vengeance. Judges 16:28-30. Samuel was not brought up in the ways of the Lord and were given what he wants by his mother. How imperative it is to discipline our children and let them know that whom the Lord loves He corrects. Proverbs 3:12.
The Lord’s promises will always bear fruit and will surely come to pass. Joshua 21:43-45. He will not speak and not accomplish. Isaiah 55:11.
Yet today parents are too busy and fail to bring the children in the ways of the Lord and this is why there is a gap between the generations in the church and many are becoming perverted. God has heard the cry of the parents and by 2020 would bring the children’s hearts closer to parents and vice versa. Malachi 4:5. Let’s pray for this to come to pass. Remember discipline is good for the children’s soul. Pleasing them and letting them have their ways is not the ways of God. It is important therefore now to reparent your children in the ways of God. Let light, mercy and truth prevail in the family. Oneness in the family certainly do attract blessing. Enmity and constant fights in the family certainly brings forth a curse as stated by prophet Malachi. This is evident in all my years of counselling of families suffering financial breakthrough. It time to commit our whole life to the Lord.
Samson’s and Samuel’s upbringing are examples. Samson was brought up in full obedience, having heard from the Lord personally what he was going to do with Eli’s sons for being disobedient. Hence he rebuked King Saul with the words that obedience is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:23.
Parenting in the ways of the Lord matters. God be praised!.
