17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Today’s Inspiration: Daniel 1:17 Daniel and his friends were in the land of captivity but they did not waste time moaning on their plight. They surrender to the will of God. God has a plan and purpose for every plight that we go through. It’s to form our character to impact the nation’s leaders that caused them to change. Many focused on knowledge and skill in literature but Daniel and his friends focused on God’s wisdom from scripture in order to sustain in the land of captivity. Daniel felt led by the spirit to develop his gift of wisdom to understand dreams and visions which sometimes comes in symbols. It was to be able to interpret the times and to redeem time and praying correctly what the Holy spirit leads referring back always to scriptures. How can you make a difference in a foreign land or in an unfamiliar environment? You must have unique gifts no one has. Daniel knew that and served the three kings. He was not affected by who sits on the throne. He knew God placed him there for a purpose to glorify God’s name. He must be able to perform what the world cannot perform. He asked for the gift of interpreting dreams and visions and develop them by explaining to those in the sphere of his influence that caught the attention of the authorities. This enables him to be placed in jurisdiction over all the satraps including dominion over those non- believing satraps. You are working in a secular environment. How are you impacting their lives? What makes you different from them that caused you to be exalted to the highest plane? What can you offer that the world cannot offer? It’s a question God is provoking us this morning.
Daniel and his friends were found to have excellent spirit and ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. V20.
King Nebuchadnezzar was so impressed by Daniel’s gift of interpretation that caused him to promote Daniel. Daniel 2:48. Daniel became ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon. Because of Daniel, his friends were also promoted. He was not selfish unlike all other people. He wanted his friends to be benefited too. V49. He won the heart of God and the heart of the Babylonian king.
God had placed you in your company. Do you know why God placed you there? What is your outstanding gift that attracted the attention of your superiors and bosses? What are the things you can do which are more outstanding than others? Is your works and character glorifying God? Are you working on your call with God?
For some of you, there is insecurity of losing your job. When you have God on your side what do you fear? Look at the life of Daniel and Joseph. They are willing to risk for God. Who do you worship- God or man? Murmuring and complaining and slandering especially God’s anointed bring disaster to our life. These come from a hurting soul. Cleansing and sanctification is needed. 2 Corinthians 7:1. Are you still reacting childishly to people’s provocation? 1 Corinthians 13:11. One needs to be cautious as the devil is a prowling lion waiting for who he can devour. John 10:10. He is more crafty and wiser. But he cannot outwit God. Beware of satanic devices 2 Corinthians 2:11.
So seek God daily so that He becomes your rear guard and no one can stop you from progressing. It’s God we should seek. As you seek Him and perform His will, more and more of His spirit is poured onto you and you are able to ignite the fire in your community of influence and at the end of the day you are amazed and filled with awe of what you can do which you hitherto feel you cannot. Promotion comes from God. You needn’t pursue the promotion but you pursue God who has power to enable you to produce wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18. God be praised!
