Joshua 1:8

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

One of the greatest keys of Joshua’s success in possessing the lands was God’s promises in verse 3, 5 and 6. Above all was the meditation of the word which led to his full dependence on the Lord for his success (verse 8).

Sometimes we have knowledge of the promise but it is not a reality because we could not experience the breakthrough and answers seem far away. If this is the case, you are praying not according to His will but according to your fleshy desires. His will is definitely for your success because He wants His name glorified. He may be dealing with some issues in your heart. But you did not seek His will nor hear what His desire is for you. Hence it is not knowledge that you need but the relationship with God that matters. You might have neglected your call or procrastinate what He wants you to do.

His first desire is for you to build relationship with Him and secondly with each other. This is why Jesus emphasised on loving God and loving one another in His teaching because we are created for fellowshipping with Him and with each other. Meditation and communion with God surpasses knowledge. You know you have relationship with Him when you have desire to hear His word by reading aloud to your spirit every morning and be convicted by His word as you meditate. As you meditate you are given direction and strategy for the work you have to do . Building meaningful and lasting relationship is key to our life.

Listening is not by our ears but by our heart as you meditate. What is God speaking to you this morning? There is no shortcut. We are created spirit, and have a soul and lives in a body. All is important. God has no partiality. But many based their life neglecting the soul and the spirit. Some based their life on the spirit neglecting the soul and the body. Life has to be balanced before our chemical and electrical mechanism in our body system can be balanced to be wholesome. What you are today is a reflection of your heart.
