23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Today’s Inspiration: Genesis 12:1-3 God has promised Abraham to make him a great nation, will make his name great and will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. Through him all people of the earth will be blessed. As we are Abraham’s seed, we too will inherit such promises. Why then some born again believers are struggling in debt? If we are in this state, we need to ponder before the Lord and if necessary repent for poor stewardship as everything we possess comes from the Lord. Psalm 139:23-24, 1 Chronicles 29:12.
Jacob’s desire for first born inheritance was in God’s agenda as in Genesis 25:23 but his motive and manipulative acts were incorrect. If God has promised, we have to wait for His timing and His ways. The Bible stressed many times on waiting patiently in Psalm 40:1 and Isaiah 40:31.
God is a God of divine order. Principles prescribed in the Bible have to be followed. Though God appeared to Jacob proclaiming His promises of blessings, Jacob has to strive for 20 years with Laban for his wealth. He had to be separated from Joseph for 22 years before he could be reconciled with Him. Joseph suffered 13 years before he was released to Pharaoh to interpret dreams. This was followed by seven years of prosperity and by the time he was reconciled to Jacob there were still five years of famine. Ge 45.11. He lost Rachel through childbirth because of his careless word. We have to watch the door of our lips. Psalm 141.3. One has to pay a handsome price for going ahead of God’s timing and with wrong motive and conniving deeds.
We are to pay 10 percent tithes. This was the covenant of Abraham in Genesis 14:20 and Jacob in Genesis 28:22 and legalised in Genesis 27:30 which was reminded by Malachi when the nation was suffering. Malachi 3:8-10. Giving of tithes was for God to open the window of heaven to pour out His blessings so much until there is no room to contain.
We have to also set aside 20 percent for famine days. This was mandated by Joseph in Genesis 47:26. This is the wisdom of God.
Third principle of blessing is obedience without question. Assured of blessing Isaac stayed in the land despite famine and reaped one hundred fold. Genesis 26:12. We read he was rich and his wealth continues to grow until he becomes very wealthy. V13. Abimelech was afraid and told Isaac he is too powerful and to move away.
Isaac did not panic. He was patient and finally found a well at Reboth where he accumulated more wealth and increase in numbers in v22-24. His enemies came and make peace with Him in v28.
Time and place ordained by God is important. Fruitfulness comes to you when you obeyed to stay in the land like Isaac. Jacob was in the land of Goshen where he prospered and said in Genesis 49:26 that His blessings exceeded that of the inheritance of his ancestors. Jacob and his community acquired properties, fruitfulness and increase in numbers in the land of Goshen till his death. Land of Goshen was a place of fruitfulness, wealth and riches, protection from sickness and diseases and enemies. God told Abraham that He was His shield and sure reward.
God promised TCC fruitfulness this year and have the scripture confirming that the pomegranates have bloomed in Songs 6:11. May you also bloom this season. May all that you plant be fruitful as you follow God’s principles of blessings! God be praised and always be thankful.
