1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Today’s Inspiration: There is a cost to pay for discipleship, one of which is that you will be prone to persecution by people who don’t understand the word of God and are still religious and paganistic. We need to pray for such a one like this so that they will not stray away from the fold. In Jesus’ days many turned away from him except for the few who believes. He attracted a crowd but when truth was expounded, they do not believe. Jesus warned us of false prophets in the last days. So in this season be watchful and prayerful for the devil roars like a roaring lion ready to devour those who contradict God’s word. 1 Peter 5:8.
A believer’s growth maybe hindered or halted by three distinct enemies, the Devil, the deceptive word and the flesh. We are warned how the devil walks and roams about like a lion. When lions hunt, they look for weak, young, isolated, unguarded animals. They are the ones marked for attack.
The devil’s ultimate agenda is to destroy us, not merely to hurt, maim or discourage but to devour and to destroy us. He does that when he gets us to bow to circumstances, pressures or forces of his evil design hoping therefore we will yield to him. He is so crafty that he appears as angel of the light and will quote God’s word so that we will not suspect it’s him.
To overcome, we need to bow down to Jesus, the One you believe, obey and worship. Jesus overcame and refuse to bow down to satan’s devices Matthew 4:8-10. Our growth in the Lord will bring the same empowerment to resist our stand against the devil. 1 Peter 5:9.
Be clothed in the full armour of God and be armed with the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-14. Believe Him. Hebrews 11:6. Obey and abide in Him 1 John 3:24. Worship Him in spirit and in truth John 4:23. Receive Christ’s overcoming victory.
A young man sought healing for two years but to no avail till he starts surrendering to the Lord that even if He does not heal him He is God. Within a few days he was healed and since then he suffered no severe epileptic seizure nor severe headaches. This is the power of God and the power of surrendering to the authority of Jesus. To God be the glory.
We are not to be ignorant of satanic devices in 1 Corinthians 2:11 but be very discerning like Jesus who resist the enemy at every temptation. May the God of grace who called you to God’s eternal glory by Christ Jesus after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish and strengthen you. To Him be the glory and His dominion forever and ever amen. 1 Peter 5:10-11. Watch and pray. Peace be to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
