37 For their heart was not steadfast toward Him, nor were they faithful to His covenant.
Today’s Inspiration: In examining Psalm 78, you will praise the Lord your God for His faithfulness despite your hard-heartedness and stubbornness towards Him. V37 David wrote that man’s heart was not steadfast towards the most High God and their Redeemer even though they acknowledged Him but not with the heart but with their mouth. Neither were men faithful to Him. Despite this, His love for them is beyond comprehension. Each time He forgives their iniquity, being full of compassion, He did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away. V38. What was the primary reason? He knows that we are mere flesh and flesh is always against the spirit. When the breath passes away they are no more. V39. This is the extent of God’s love that is immeasurable.
How quickly men have forgotten God’s goodness towards them! Despite all the signs and wonders and the miraculous Deliverance, men tend to forget what God has done for them. How many times have the Israelites grieved God in the desert? Again and again they limit God the Holy one of Israel.
The best time to know God is when you are fighting battles in the desert, especially when you feel that the situation is hopeless. What would you do? You need to get back to His promises and the authority He had given to you. The battle must be first won in the mind filled with God’s promises that no one can stand before you all the days of your life and He will be with you to the end of age. Joshua 1:5, Matthew 28:20. He had given you authority to trample on scorpions and serpents and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:18. Above all rejoice that your name is written in heaven and He is your shield and exceedingly great reward. V20, Genesis 15:1.
Do not hide the truth from your children but instead sing praises to Him on His strength and the wonderful works He has done. Psalm 78:4. Do not forget the works of God but keep His commandments. Record them down that the generations to come might know them even the children who would be born. V6-7. In the desert experience, Elijah was feed by the Ravens. Manna came down from heaven to the Israelites in the desert and they were all filled despite their complaints and murmuring. V29.
How much more will He do for you now that you are under grace because of the crucification of Jesus on the cross and the power of His Resurrection! God be praised! Trust Him with your whole heart.
