1 Corinthians 4:20
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.
Today’s Inspiration: For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 1 Corinthians 4:20. We in Christ are equipped with offensive and defensive spiritual weapons of warfare including Spiritual gifts to manifest His power, therefore we should not be complacent and lay back but instead be always watchful and alert of the Spirit’s voice of warning or strategies to outwit the enemy of our soul. Our Battle is not against flesh and blood but the enemy of our soul who time and again hinder us from moving forward. Ephesians 6:12. Circuit breaker is a time to seek God for strategies to overpower the enemy.
Like Joshua, God has to heal first our fear of the uncertain future and implant His words of faith to grant us inner courage and strength so that we will be bold and confident enough to confront the enemy with God’s strategies of victory.
Whilst externally we acquire intellect and skills for excellent performance for His glory, this can also be a hindrance to our accelerating forward in times of uncertainty. Human nature is such that in times of uncertainty, there is a tendency to be gripped with fear, insecurity, anxiety and inferiority, by looking at the natural mess they are in.
Joshua was on the crossroads in Joshua 1, not knowing how to proceed without Moses but nevertheless he looked more on the great God who can perform wonders for him like the days of Moses, having witnessed all the Miracles performed through Moses. Joshua during Moses time had won many battles, being a good strategist in warfare but still he chose to yield to the spirit. He knew without the Holy Spirit he can do nothing. John 15:5. The branches must be attached to the vine. So he waited for God’s presence, God’s assurance and strategies before he launched into battle. He needed God’s power. Finally with the Angel of the Lord as His Commander, He won the battle through praising God and worshipping Him. Your strongholds termed as Jericho cannot be crumpled without praise and worship first.
We can be very skillful and full of intellect yet we can also suffer financial loss if we do not ask God for permission to proceed with what our thoughts choose to do. Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. 1 Corinthians 10:23.
We have to develop a listening heart to our shepherd’s voice who desire to direct our efforts by His spirit. John 10:27. Success does not lie in our skills and intellect but in the walking of the spirit based on the Revelation of the Holy Spirit. Yielding to the spirit must come first before application of talents and abilities with godly character. Matthew 6:33. When you choose to go your way, God retreats.
God sometimes don’t use your skills to accomplish His purposes. This can be seen in the many battles that the Israelites fought. Therefore you should learn not to act until God gives you the signal to go ahead. This is a sign of maturity. Balance your skill to walking in the spirit.
Overly confident of your natural skills is not God’s way of supernatural provision. God be praised.
