1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

12   And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,

13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

Today’s Inspiration: Paul urged us that we should recognise those who labor among us and who are over us in the Lord and to esteem them very highly in love for their works’sake and to be at peace among ourselves. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13. David honored King Saul by not killing him when there is an opportunity to do so even though King Saul was all out to exterminate him. For such gesture he was greatly honored to be the Shepherd-King of Israel. God’s will for us is never to touch God’s anointed especially those who pray unceasingly for your sake and impart their lives to you. Instead in everything give thanks for this is the will of God for you. V18. He who calls you is faithful. V24.

God desires us to be faithful and always press on towards maturity as the great apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10-14. Paul served not for position but to labor among us and imparts to us the truths of the Gospel that we might know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering being conformed to His death that we might attain to the Resurrection of the dead. This is the aim of the Gospel.

Prophetic ministry and the gifts of the spirit are for us to function in ministry but should not be the primary focus. Our primary objective in being a Christian is to grow up in all aspects unto Him and to fit into the fellowship in love. Ephesians 4:15-16. Unity and prayer is again the primary purpose in the heart of our Lord. If it was not so, He would not have left us with this legacy the night in which he was preparing Himself to obey God’s will to be crucified on the cross. John 17.

The prophetic ministry is only just one aspect of Him and as great a blessing as the prophetic ministry can be, if we camp there, we will end up in circles. God did not call us to be a nomad but to sojourn. To sojourn means to keep walking with Him with a destination in mind and to be rooted where you can grow. Receiving ministry is good but what God desires is change and to stay close with Him and be ready to pick up and follow the cloud of His presence when He moved on. It’s the same from creation of the world even in Moses’ days and will be the same forevermore.

You go to the altar to seek the Lord yourself and train yourself to hear directly from Him and allowing Him to touch you and not go to the altar to seek the prophet for a word which many people do today. If you continue to do so, you will not grow and will not be in tune with the Holy Spirit. Exercising the discipline to hear from Him is the key to Spiritual maturity and to move on with the ministry of touching lives of people within your sphere of influence not only to believers within your neighborhood but also the backsliders and the unreached should be our mission. This should be our life purpose.

May God sharpen your spirit from now onwards to know Him in a deeper way and knowing deeper His will for your life. God be praised.
