Deuteronomy 30:19

19  I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Today’s inspiration: Deuteronomy 30:19-20 we have a choice to choose life or death. Life and death are in the power of our tongue. Proverbs 18:21. Our choices determines the result.

If we choose life, our life is extended and good will come to our children. In the Old testament when we sin, not only are we destroyed but our children are subject to the same punishment. Hence generational iniquity is so severe that we have to pay attention to our attitude. God judged us by our character, attitude and behaviour. Choose life is the key to the verse in Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

Too often we made choices in blind ignorance and before we know it, we suffer consequences for the negative results. But thank God as a born again believer, we have so much counsel in the Word that guides us to paths of righteousness and how to glean God’s blessings by making the right choices. Making the wrong choices steal the light from us and we are prone to attacks by the enemy.

Both blessings and curses have staying power and we should be cautious to obey God. Blessings stay alive even when the inheritor of the blessings pass on. Blessings remain available for whoever fulfils the started requirements. Regrettably curses have the same effect.

Blessings and curses too have their multiplying effect like blessings pronounced to Abraham. God will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. Genesis 12:3. So keep blessing yourself and others so that good will come to you.
