Psalm 40:1-2

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

God has a time for every purpose and for every work. We cannot go ahead of His time neither go behind His time. He is always on time Ecc 3:17. We cannot hasten the work He is doing for us. We just have to wait patiently for Him and put our trust in Him and believe that what He does is for our good. He will answer your prayer in His time. Let Him put a new song in our heart. Psa 40:1-2.

When things get tough don’t panic like Saul did. See 1 Sam 13:8. When Samuel was late n did not turn up as scheduled, he made sacrifices to God which he is not supposed to do so and was rebuked by Samuel for breach of commandment verse 13.

God actually wanted to establish his kingdom over Israel forever. See verse 14 but because he panicked and did not trust God totally but breached God’s commandment, the Lord has appointed David a man after God’s heart instead.

Patience and waiting for God’s timing to give you success is the way of life.

How important it is to obey God’s commandment. Patience is the fruit of the spirit and a divine attribute of God. David on the other hand followed God’s way of waiting upon His time to ascend the throne. He had every opportunity to kill Saul to defend himself but he did not because Saul was God’s anointed. It is important to follow God’s way and His will to accomplish success in all our endeavours.

Obedience overrides man’s ways who have tendency to resort to rebellion which is likened to sin of witchcraft and idolatry. 1 Sam 15:22-23. Let us examine ourselves this morning. Have we gone beyond God’s timing? Are we in touch with God?
