3 Ecclesiastes 3:22
22 So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
Today’s Inspiration: The Book of Ecclesiastes encourages us to lead a Godly life. A life lived apart from God is a life that is meaningless and futile. A meaningful life is a life lived in faithfulness and integrity toward God and others.
Therefore we must endeavour to enjoy our life and the work we do. Ecclesiastes 3:22. Be not quick to react and do not make rash decisions. It is better to be patient than proud. Many regret their decisions made in anger. Ecclesiastes 7:8-9.
Esau could not foresee the bright promise of the birthright. He allowed temporal hunger and discomfort to block out the larger vision of his future God had planned for Him. He sold his birthright for a bowl of lentil soup. Genesis 25:29-34. Many a time, because of our impatience and anger, we react quickly and forgot what the future holds. Many a time we make dumb decisions like Esau just to satisfy ourselves in our impatience and pride. We should not hasten in our spirit to be angry. Ecclesiastes 7:9 Anger rests in the bosom of fools.
Instead fear the Lord and obey Him. It’s not just enough to know about God, to read or write about Him. We must know Him and follow Him. This is the goal, the greatest achievement and the fulfilment of a person on earth. Our work and whatever we have were not of our own skill and effort but by God who loves us and knows we need them. Ecclesiastes 12:11.
Of making books there is no end. It’s not the knowledge that matters in life but living in the revelation of God is the best principle in life. Whatever we do, we need to remember that God will bring every work into judgement including every secret thing whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14. So exercise self control in the fear of God should be the whole duty of man.
