37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Today’s Inspiration: Staying focused liberates our soul. Jesus’ focus was to look into the overall spiritual condition of the flock with much compassion and found that they were weary sheep without a shepherd and requested the disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send more workers in the harvest field as the harvest was plentiful. Matthew 9:36-38.
So He decided to empower first His disciples as the first batch of workers over unclean spirits so that they could cast them out and to heal all kinds of sickness and diseases. Matthew 10:1.
Many desire to be empowered but not many are willing to respond to His call. They desire to be hearers but not the doers for fear of rejection and persecution. Hence many are left scattered. Jesus came to the world only with one vision and that was to save the lost through delivering them from demonic influence and every sickness and diseases and gave them the truth that the truth could set them free. John 8:32.
His main mission is to teach in the synagogue, preach the Gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matthew 9:35. He sent His disciples out with the same mission purpose. V7. His instructions were very clear. Hence our vision must be clear so as to recruit more shepherds and our mission statement very specific for them to fulfill the mission with us for God’s glory.
First they have to go by faith to reach out to every home and secondly they are to preach to every household. V11-12. Family restoration has always been in the heart of God. God created families to be United to perform ministry together. He created families to save them and function corporately with one vision in mind. Family ministry is therefore more powerful than individual ministry. No one in the family should be left out in your mission. Is this one reason why it was God’s purpose to shut ourselves in our home to bring back His original vision of family outreach?
Our first ministry is in the home so that our discussion at home will be focused on strategies to reach out to more families with our testimony. Training or nurturing must first start in our homes so that we will be an United whole. God has ordained us from the very beginning to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul and with all our strength and to teach this truth diligently to our household so that wherever we go, we will speak of the goodness of God. Even the doorposts and our gate shall have identity that we belong to Him. Deuteronomy 6:5-9. Any household that will not accept Him will have no peace because it will be taken away from them. Matthew 10:13-14.
He also teaches them on the fear of God as fearing God is the beginning of wisdom and goes hand in hand with the love of God as basic elements of the foundation of our devotion to Christ. Adam’s fall was due to the lack of fear of God that allows covetousness to corrupt all that God has provided for mankind thus giving way to created things being our master more than our creator. It’s more painful without submission to the Creator than the submission to things God does not desire us to have. The one thing God desires us not to have endangers our soul. Covetousness is idolatry that separates us from God and hence it leads Adam to banishment from His presence. Genesis 3:23-24.
Apostle Paul warns the Corinthian disciples on this truth saying everything is permissible but we should not be mastered by them. 1 Corinthians 6:12. If other things including families takes priority over our time with God, we are subjecting ourselves to created things which are temporal rather than to God who is eternal and who loves and endures us forever.
It is therefore essential for us to surrender our whole life to God who is our eternal Guide and Savior. May the love of God and fear of God in devotion to God takes priority in your life. God’s main objective is to liberate your soul. Let this be our prerogative too. God be praised.
