18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
Today’s Inspiration: What trials are you facing today that you think its too difficult for God to empower you to overcome? Can your trials beat that of Daniel and his friends who are about to face execution unless they interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? At a time like this, Daniel did not just pray. He sought the Lord with his friends and pleaded to God for mercy for all the wise men in the land. Daniel 2:18. He not only prayed but took the initiative to tell Nebuchadnezzar that the dreams were given by God and only He can interpret. Verse 28. He said that it is not because he was wiser than other men verse 30 but because God had revealed the mystery so that the king could understand that there is an eternal God who have all the unfathomable wisdom and power over the universe and such wisdom of interpreting the dreams were made known to him His chosen ones for which he is thankful. Verses 21-23.
He further added that the interpretation was given so that the king is forewarned of things that are to come.
There are two principles we can observe here. Firstly like David, Daniel recognised the source of his potential and the master of his destiny. It is God who shows us the path of life. Man made dream will fail but dreams given by God are the path to our destiny. For all these Daniel never once assume credit for himself.
Secondly he knew that God’s resource will never dry up. Only with prayer can we see the supernatural realm which is unfathomable and unlimited. Only prayer can empower us to cling onto our passion and enable us to run the race with much endurance. Prayer spur us on to strengthen us that we do not grow weary nor faint. Once we overcome the pain, we reach the highest place.
Till we face pain and endure them, we cannot claim our reward. Daniel was promoted to ruler over the entire province of wise men but he chose to remain in the palace and requested that the rulership be given to his three friends. Verses 48-49. For every pain, God has something good prepared for us therefore don’t dwell in your pain. Rise up and press on towards the destiny God has planned for you. God has to cause pain for you to rely on him totally and after the pain is overcome, you are glad that God has caused you pain. Only a total surrender of your life and abilities to God will exalt you to the highest place. Pain has a deeper purpose than what you imagine. It is to empower you for greatness. Jesus is the same, yesterday today and forever. Hebrews 13:8.
