2 Kings 7:2
2 So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”
Today’s Inspiration: How do we face rejection and disappointment? Sometimes we wonder why Isaiah rebuked and give a death sentence statement to the king’s officer when he didn’t believe a word that is released through him by the Lord. 2 Kings 7:1-2. Jesus did exceptionally more miracles in the cities of Chorazim, Bethsaida, and Capernaum but they were not responding to his message of the Kingdom so he rebuked them for not being repentant. Matthew 11:20-24.
When we respond to His call, Jesus also delivers us from the pride that blinds our spiritual eyes and close our spiritual ears. We will see and hear what God is saying to us, discuss the knowledge of Him, His miracles and His ways and recognise His coming. Like children, we will learn to trust Jesus simply and respond wholeheartedly. We will find strength, peace and joy and be able to praise Him in whatever we do no matter the results. Verses 25-27.
When we will take up the yoke of Christ and learn from Him, we will find rest in Him. We will find fulfillment in the deep relationship with Christ. And not keep being busy pursuing our accomplishment. Jesus wants us to sit with him to reveal His heart of Truth and life. He did not want Martha to be distracted by natural chores of pleasing Him or she will miss hearing His voice. Many a time we miss God’s voice because we are unduly occupied with pleasing men. Luke 10:41-42, Galatians 1:10.
Submission to the authority of the Holy Spirit and love should be our biblical priorities. Without love, our efforts amount to nothing. 1 Corinthians 8:3 whoever loves God is known by God. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 outlined the qualifications of love. John 14:6 Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Without the way there is no going, without truth there is no doing, without life there is no living. If we genuinely love Jesus, we will be able to let His love flow out and touch all our relationship with others especially the ones God put in our life including our loved ones. We need to be like Jesus who prayed daily that enabled him to handle scriptures well and loved selflessly and sacrificially. We should do nothing on our own but lived selflessly and sacrificially like Jesus. God be praised!
