14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Today’s Inspiration: Apostle Paul reminded us to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill it’s lusts. Romans 13:14. This is a confirmation of the articles I wrote in the past few weeks to get out of the flesh. We have to fight against the fleshy nature of reaction towards people’s provocation and live by the spirit. To die in the flesh is to co-crucify with our Lord Jesus Christ where any criticism, judgements and anger do not matter to us anymore. Even if we bother, it’s to our hurt which is not worth the investment of time dwelling on it.
Every trial we face is a trial to test our faith and our character. Rather than reaction, it’s good to reflect our nature towards every provocation. Justifying is one thing that God rebuked Job. Job 40:8 says ‘Would you indeed annul my judgement so that you may be justified? What do you think is in Job’s mind? He expected God to fight for him and be compassionate towards him, maintaining his uprightness but he received a rebuke that is adverse. How many of us in crisis always jumped for joy when we had encounter with God not knowing that the encounter would end up with refinement at the altar. Finally his Revelation of the sovereignty of God was disclosed, making him realise how little he knows the heart of God and His will for us. He is not God who can be bribed with sacrifices but a God who expects righteousness and a walk of faith with Him. May the God of peace minister to us in times of severe crisis!
What about suffering uncertainty of your disease and you are on the brink of despair because medicine could no longer heal you? God had many scriptural assurances but the one timeless truth that God wants us to model is the joy of the Lord He has given to us. If you are in the crossroad of decision, you need to rejoice. Philippians 4:4 tells us to rejoice in the Lord always and again rejoice. The word’always’ is enough to convince us that there is hope as we rejoice. Let our gentleness be known to all including ourselves going through the trial. V5. It’s the rejoicing that brings us joy and peace of God that surpasses all understanding, that will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7.
Nehemiah elaborated that it’s joy who can give us the spiritual strength and muscles to tackle our crisis. Nehemiah 8:10. He did this and won. He was not perturbed by the enemy’s threats. He knows the heart of God and knows clearly the assignments he has to complete. Because there is no distraction, he completed within 52 days.
For health crisis, it’s the same principle. Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart does good like medicine but a broken spirit dries the bones. Joy has a powerful effect on our hearts and physical health. Even in the secular community, they practiced laughter for medical breakthrough.
Joy boosts our immune system, fights stress and pain and supports longevity. God does not use the same method for breakthrough all the time as you can see from the Bible. Like Moses, the first way is to hit the Rock to get water. The Second way is to speak to the Rock.
Today being the beginning of 2020 the year of God’s Oracle, we just need to speak to our body to respond to the voice of God that speaks health. For some, it’s about their faith that heals them Matthew 9:22, for others it’s about their belief. Mark 9:24 etc. What is Jesus speaking to you that will hasten your healing? God be praised.
