4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
Today’s Inspiration: Self-control is the most essential fruit of the spirit and many people aspire but fail to attain. Self- control is about ruling over your own spirit. Many relationships fail because of lack of self- control of their tongue. God wants us to have a wholesome tongue which is a tree of life. Proverbs 15:4. Without self- control we are like a city broken down without walls because negligently we allow people to take control of your lives. Proverbs 25:28.
If you have no self-control over your tongue, you are a person who is impatient, bitter, rashful, prone to deceit of the enemy that easily provoked you to anger. All these stem out of the root of fear.
Fear is the main root of all negative emotions that caused smaller roots to grow inside of us; fear made ourselves feel we are rejected, we are worthless, leading to insecurity resulting in shame all of which defiled our spirit and made us hopeless. Hence in every one of us, there are hurting events that cause us to accumulate these negative emotions within our spirit. Moses says we are to overpower them and utterly destroy them as commanded by the Lord. Deuteronomy 20:17. If we don’t destroy them, they become idols in our life that keep overpowering us resulting in bitterness and disobedience and sin against God and authority that lead to wasting diseases. Deuteronomy 28:27. Dwelling in negative emotions caused us to be more and more bitter destroying our soul. For some they lead to deep depression v28 sometimes with suicidal thoughts. Moses instructed that we destroy them before they destroy us. Deuteronomy 20:16-17.
Men are prone to rebellion. Conflicts occur when there is always lack in the family. In Moses times, the Israelites rebelled when there were no food or water. They always think of past glory. They never think that God is bringing them to the Promised land filled with milk and honey which is the gloriest of all lands. Ezekiel 20:15. It was a land of fertility, abundance, riches and fruitfulness. We tend to take grace for granted. We never deserve anything but God choose to grant us grace to inherit the riches of His glory. God prohibited the rebellious Israelites to cross over. Only Joshua and Caleb were anointed to lead the remnants who were submissive, teachable and obedient to cross over and what an inheritance they had!
Obedience is foremost in the heart of God to bring forth a blessing. When God is silent to your plea, its time to reflect what has not been done so that it will hasten the next direction in your life. Till we fulfil our previous assignments which God repeatedly directs us to do, we will not be able to receive the next command that fulfils our aspirations. Reflection of what we meditate or read will provoke us to change. It is this change that will propel you to greater heights. This is a season of reflection to receive the fruits that are waiting for you to pick up. Do you have ready containers to fill them? See you at Pentecost Sunday 3 p.m.
