1 Samuel 22:29, 31
29 “For You are my lamp, O Lord; The Lord shall enlighten my darkness
31 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
The Lord is our Lamp. It is He who shall enlighten our darkness especially in times like this. His ways are perfect. The word of the Lord has proven and a shield to those who trust Him. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. 2 Samuel 22:29, 31.
We can never fathom what God is doing but we still love and praise Him for what He is doing. God is love and to know the love of Christ is the essential truth that surpasses knowledge for God is Love. Ephesians 3:19.
One single truth which we have tendency to neglect exploring is the extent of God’s love. If we can touch the world with God’s love by our demonstration of love through the meekness of the tone of our voice irrespective of the lack of response of love from them, we have touched the love of God for Christ. Why people are suicidal is that they thought people don’t love them. Love shut the door to enemy’s schemes.
There is a vast difference between human love and Divine love. Just like Columbus discovered America, he does not know details of the lakes, rivers and Mississippi valley. Likewise we know God loves us but we do not know the extent of His everlasting love nor the details of it. When Christ was nailed to the cross, He asked His Father to forgive even His deadliest enemies. Luke 23:34. There was nothing but love in His heart.
As believer of Christ, we should even love those who hate us, abandon us even at the time of crisis, slander and criticise us even gossiping behind our back for the Love of God is already spread broadly into our hearts by the Holy Spirit on the day we acknowledge Him as the Lord of our life and this hope does not disappoint us. Romans 5:5. In any case, we cannot stop people’s mouth irrespective of the good things we do for them. Just as not all who follow Christ accept His teaching, not all accept our teachings. There are people who just like to rejoice at our sufferings because of the hurts of Injustice they carry from childhood and they carry along this bitterness to adulthood. Instead we should have compassion for them, forgive then and touch their hearts by going the extra mile for them. As human beings, we know this path is a difficult path but we ought to remember that bitterness do more harm to us than good. Harboring thoughts of revengefulness is not good for our soul.
In John 13:1 it is written that God loves us until the end. He knew one of the disciples would betray him yet He loved him. Peter denied Jesus three times yet He came to love him and healed him of his guilt. It was His love that broke Peter’s heart. John 21:15-17. Out of this brokenness comes forth a powerful revival that the world has ever seen. Acts 2&4.
The strongest human love is mother’s love. Death can never quench a mother’s love. A mother endures a child’s folly and goes the extra mile to transform her child. She would rather sacrifice herself than her own son. But God’s love is different. For the sake of salvation of the whole world He offered His son as a sacrificial offering for us that our sins may be forgiven and that we may dwell in His house with Him forever. His love is immeasurable. He knew man’s heart is deceitful above all things. Jeremiah 17:9. If He were to mark our transgressions, how can we stand?
Paul consistently pursued to discover the extent of His love but finally came to the conclusion that it surpasses knowledge. Ephesians 3:19.
One thing is sure. Never give up on your prodigal son. Keep praying and showing your love for Him. Like the parable of the prodigal son, the Father forgives the son beyond human understanding even though he has squandered his inheritance. He was willing to return as his servant. But he placed a ring on him instead. The ring was the reward of repentance from his folly and an indication that he had learnt the painful lessons of life. It was also a reward of sonship. The Bible is clear. God will never forget the compassion for His son or daughter He had brought into the world. Even if our friends and those in the outer circle forget us, God will not forget us. Isaiah 49:15.
The lessons of life in the Bible must be digested to truly know the extent of God’s love. His desire for you is to be with Him and to accomplish great success. God will never leave us and will be with us till the end of the age. Matthew 28:20. God be praised!
