12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!
13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
Today’s Inspiration: When the angel of the Lord addressed Gideon to be man of valor and told him the Lord is with him, the first question he asked from the Lord was why they were in distress if the Lord was with him. Judges 6:12-13. With the assurance that the Lord will be with him to fight the battle, he built an altar called The Lord is my peace. V24.
Notwithstanding this, he still has a lot of fear and asked for more signs of Him until he came to the enemy’s camp where he overheard a prophetic dream that he will win the battle. Judges 7:13-15. When the Lord of peace is with you, even the fiercest battle could be won. The Lord must be your peace wherever you go. Wherever Jesus goes, he blessed the people with the words Peace be with you. Peace truly surpasses all understanding and gives us the assurance that all be well with us. We need words of edification and encouragement to be at peace that even the enemies make peace with us.
How often have the Lord spoken to us yet we are not confident enough to fight the battle. We need first to be at peace with God before we can be assured of winning the battle. It’s only when the Lord is with us to fight the battle on our behalf do we have the confidence to fight even after long years of misery. With us is the arms of flesh but with the Lord all things are possible to those who believe. Had the Lord not been in battle with Gideon he would not have won the battle with 300 men. The key is worship must go before us to win the battle.
It’s our reverence of the Lord that God can bring the battle of the Midianites to our favor. When the Lord is with us, no one can withstand us. We are to be like the olive tree continuously giving oil to others to lubricant their soul that energizes them to victory. Psalm 52:8. The Lord battles for those whose hearts belong to Him. Therefore abide in Him that He might abide in you so that all be well with you and your children’s children. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord thank You for the joy and assurance You have given to us that all maybe well with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
1 John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Today’s Inspiration: Fear is our greatest enemy and has to be conquered by love for love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18. To nurture the damaged trees of wrong done to us is to be a prisoner of the past. To refuse to forgive is also destructive. Unforgiveness choked the life out of marriage or out of family relationship and friendship. To avoid forgiving would mean imprisoning your emotions.
It costs the Lord Jesus at Cavalry to bring us forgiveness. If we are to bear the image of God we cannot afford not to forgive our offender. Forgiveness carries a condition that it starts with us first to forgive the offender. To accept God’s forgiveness and to refuse to forgive our offenders is a wicked act as Jesus explained in the parable of unforgiven servant in Matthew 18:21-35. When you don’t forgive and you choose to be bitter against the offender, you have made yourself a slave to the offender.
