When the ways of God reach you, everything flows in perfect harmony:
It was in summer in December 2013 that I decided to embark on a life-changing journey that a Peruvian guy at Cross-culture church (whom I have lost contact a year ago) invited me for a lunch with 2 of his friends and guess what? One of them was Marie, who is today my life partner and one of the best gifts from our Almighty Lord to achieve His divine plans.
The lunch went well as we shared about Christmas and it’s significant. I was then trying to engage in the discussion and understand more about it (I was introduced by my Mum to Christian life after a divorce in 2012 but was not very keen at that time of brokenness and trying to sort out my life.). On the following day, Marie invited me to meet Ps Alicia for a dinner planned at her house. I still remember that evening when some weird situations happened (my calls were not responded by Marie or the other friends who invited me to the dinner and when I buzz the intercom Marie replied that I should come an hour later which I found it very impolite) and I was so close to giving up and go back to my home, but , for some reasons or other, a mutual friend called me ( as he knew that I was very punctual with appointments or meetings) and asked me where I was as they were about to start with the dinner.
I was actually waiting outside and on hearing this, I proceeded to Sis Marie’s house and introduced myself to some guests, after which I met Ps Alicia, who looked at me from bottom to the top and smiled, then uttered that she will speak to me later. (I began to wonder if I had done anything wrong.). After dinner, we fellowshipped and suddenly Ps Alicia mentioned that he will pray for us. She then gave a prophecy to each of us. I was the last to leave but, before I say good bye she asked me to stay a little while longer where she started to chat with me about God’s purpose and her life as a pastor in Singapore.
The following day, Marie called me and advised me that Ps. Alicia would like to see me to share about how my life could be improved by allowing the Holy Spirit to cleanse and sanctify me through Father Me Program. The days that followed passed by very fast during which time, a closer fellowship was built, and I had the opportunity also to fellowship with Sister Susan, whose easy going personality had put me at ease.
The more I heard God’s Word from Ps Alicia, the more I was interested to change my life and follow Jesus. I still remember her telling me that the wife I was seeking for is in Australia and she is staying very close to me yet so distant from me. One day she asked me to share the three characteristics of a wife I need, which unknowingly matched with what Sis Marie had told her.
She felt led to lead me to give my life to the Shepherd of my soul, Jesus, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, after which I had to follow her through a Generation Curse Prayer that has to be broken over my life owing to lack of bonding with my parents during my infancy and childhood days.
With closer fellowship I was encouraged to join Sis Marie in water baptism in Singapore (my mother has always encouraged me to go for water baptism for the last 15 years but I was reluctant.) Little did I know that I should be water baptized in Singapore with my lifetime partner and now wife Sis Marie. I also decided to go to the “Catch the Fire Retreat 2014” organised by TCC Singapore to experience the move of the Spirit in the Retreat.
At the airport on the day of her departure, she started taking pictures of Marie and me together and kept smiling as if she knew there was something which we were not aware of.
After her departure, I continued visiting Sis Marie for Christian fellowship and supported the Prayer Revival group initiated by Ps Alicia and visited BIC Indonesia Church with Sis Marie. Our friendship began to blossom as we shared with the Prayer Group our personal goals, our good times and challenging times and we felt the time is now right to start planning our life and commitment with God for the remaining years.
It was at the “Holy Spirit Catch the Fire Retreat” that I really felt for the first time in my life the touch and Fire of the Holy Spirit which so overwhelmed me. The more I associated with Sis Marie, the more she caught my attention. My eyes were opened to the need to spend more time together to share the love and respect for each other and in October 2014 during a service at Bethany International (BIC) Church, the Senior Pastor was preaching about finding a partner biblically, and marriage and life as a married couple. This was the confirmation I needed as I have been praying for a confirmation of my intended marriage to Sis Marie as I was always questioning God as to why I met Sis Marie and why I feel so connected to her the more we spent time together.
During one of our worship and prayer time, I felt prompted to ask Sis Marie for her hand in marriage and to work out our life goals together and work towards bringing people to God. She was surprised and asked me if I was serious. I replied “Yes I am! I would like to share the rest of my life with you. I have been praying and I felt today is the answer from the Holy Spirit so I do not want to miss this beautiful gift from God.”
So we called Ps Alicia to share the good news and she replied, “I knew it the first day I met you as the Lord had given me the vision about a guy Sis Marie would marry, who looks like you which I have shared with Sis Marie on this vision in 2001 but she had forgotten.” I did not realise that on her trip after meeting me, she asked Sis Marie if she remembered the vision and whether I had that look of a Middle Eastern Face. She had long forgotten this vision. She was so happy for both of us.
Following this, we started planning our wedding to be held at Singapore TCC church on June 13, 2015 before the next Holy Spirit Retreat “Blazing Fire”, as this church has helped us to grow spiritually and changed our perspective of a spiritual life. We decided to have our ROM in Melbourne on 18th April 2015 so as to comply with Australian Laws and take the opportunity to receive our marriage blessings from Ps Alicia as she told us her second visit to Australia was scheduled for 8-20 April 2015.
Today as I reflect upon my life of the past compared to the life after I met Ps Alicia, I have seen a great change in my life. Life was better as the days go by and has never been the same for me. I enjoyed every minute of it with the Lord and with my newly found lifetime partner Sis Marie. I believe that God has a great purpose for all of us. Patience, humility and discipline in the Word truly makes a difference in our life. Most importantly faith being a virtue should be applied to our life so that we will be able to see what our natural mind cannot perceive.
My life is more meaningful now, and I am so grateful that God has allowed me to share my life with a fantastic beautiful, diligent and godly woman with a generous heart and who always is willing to walk the extra mile with me for God’s purposes.
LESSONS LEARNT IN THIS JOURNEY
I would like to advise every single man or woman reading this testimony to first determine to change his/her life, change himself/herself, perform some sacrifices and then seek the Holy Spirit’s help as to what, when and he/she needs to change. Once you are ready, start praying unceasingly and thankfully (1Thessolonians 5:18) from your heart, for the right godly person to come to your path and you will find the grace and steadfast love of our Almighty God. We were created to have first relationship with God and then with others. We were made not to be lonely and our God is the best Matchmaker ever. (Genesis 24:12). He created us and know who our partner should be. It may take years of waiting but it is worth the waiting for the fine Jewel that you need. You were born again to love and be loved. (1 John 3:16-20)
I end up this testimony with the following inspirational verses: 1 Peter 5:10 “ And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.”
Ephesians 5: 31-32 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.” We are the Church. We need to not only leave geographically but also emotionally.
To God be the glory!
